The day was HORRENDOUS, and continues quite badly still this morning.

The moving guys didn't finish unloading at the new place till 9 pm y'day! And everything is still in a million boxes and we had to go out and BUY crockery and cutlery y'day evening in order to eat, and at 10 pm I was trawling Kettering to buy a duvet as we couldn't find one so that we could actually sleep!!!!

Stressful business, moving home.

Fingers crossed Kit all is finished soon so you can unpack and begin to settle in.

Kit's Dekals is back in business!

Having found the printer (after five days!) and re-connected it to our network I've just managed to print off the first set of decals in the new house.

Those are yours Rick, and they look pretty good, although I say it myself.

As I've just moved house, I'm going through the rigmarole of telling all the umpteen organisations that need to know.

I'd have thought that the Government would have a 'one stop shop' for all their various agencies that need to know where I am, but no, there's LOADS of different systems.

There's even two DIFFERENT systems to tell the DVLA that a) I've changed the address of my cars and b) changed that on my driving licence. The first system is pretty straightforward, a matter of a few minutes on the laptop and it was done. The second was HELL! The Government had me to go through all sorts of hoops just to prove I am who I am, and then they checked all my statements with 'other organisations', except they tried to do that with Experian, and I've never had any contact with them and never had any credit taken out with anyone, so that didn't work.

Instead I've got to show up at a Post Office with my passport so they can take a pic of me to see if they match....

All this to change the address on my Driving Licence.

The country has gone stark raving mad!

From experience, there'll be one or two organizations that you somehow forgot to notify or who somehow "forgot" about your change of address. My wife bought some shoes from an online store she hadn't done business with since we moved. She paid via Paypal, but the company somehow insisted on shipping the package to the old address. We drove out there at 10PM and luckily, the man at the front desk remembered us and so it wasn't a disaster.

That happened to me with the Wilmington (DE) VAMC. I'd moved, updated my account through Health e-Vet portal, verified my address when I checked in at the Northfield VA CBOC for an eye exam. Apparently no one updated the actual hospital, because the Prosthetic Lab sent my glasses to my old address.

That's something that I have been meaning to do, now that I'm living in a council flat. Hiring a car and driving down to Falmouth is still on my bucket list, as a car is essential down there. The buses run on their own timetable and not the ones published at the bus stop.

Some serious progress is being made on living in the new house.

The boiler man came and tweaked the darn thing so it does actually go on and off when we tell it to, and it even gives us hot water out of the taps and showers too, but only after pouring GALLONS of cold water down the drains while it warms up! Whoever invented the combi boiler should be shot, they're nowhere near 'economical' in total energy terms.

Despite many hours spent poring through the manual I still couldn't manage to get the garage door to open, so I phoned the 'Tech Support' people who said to pull on the short string hanging from the door rail which would enable me to open it manually, so I did.

The string fell off........................

But it did go into manual mode, and the door man is coming on Monday to sort THAT out.

The door bells didn't work worth a light, despite the application of new batteries, so I've bought a new set, and some of the 16 possible tunes I could use were HORRENDOUS! I've got sensible, and different ones for the front and back doors, but no-one's been to use them as yet. We live in hope.

There's only 76 boxes in the garage and garden room to sort out now, I've managed about 30 of them so far, and we'll only need three more 20 ft containers to dump all the excess stuff in.................

No way am I moving house EVER again!

Give it a month or two, and you'll be absolutely fine. But yes, the process to get there can be.. interesting..

When we fully moved into our place (March, 2021), it took us forever to unpack the boxes. My wife was convinced that we would be done "in May" - I asked her what year. we declared victory in September of that year, even though there were still a few small boxes left
