Some of us actually think about the real environmental cost of all this 'electrification' by counting out how much it takes to MAKE the darn things too.

It's better to keep a car that's ALREADY been built than to make a new one. But the older ones will NEED spares!!!!

Captain Canada

We were driving through Flint, Michigan last week. Hundreds and hundreds of Chevy Brightdrop vans stored there. Built in Canada with taxpayer funded subsidies, but nobody wants them.

The environmental cost will be huge mate .. there's a copper mine in Brazil ,, largest on the planet .. to meet the demands for all the miles of copper that these POS EV's need that mine will have to get three times bigger and so will the machines needed to remove all the ore and that leads to even more mining for all the machines which will be needed to meet demand ,,as those pics Cap'n put up they are more than useless in winter as the cold sucks battery power like crazy so your range is jack doo doo ... if ya want a laugh or a shock or both just check the pics of the thousands apon  thousands of dumped EV's in China ,,nobody wants em cause over there they had so many EV car makers that when the crash came dozens of em closed up shop ,, this you'll see in the UK right now too ... Chinese made cars being written off by the insurance companies for the smallest of things ,,like in one cae a broken front bumper and headlight ..written off ... there's no spare parts for em ..thats the strange thing with my Stagea ,, spare parts are available even tho they weren't made for all that long getting parts isn't a problem at all and mines 21yrs old already  ;D

As @Wardukw says about the infrastructure to build the cars, you also need the infrastructure to feed them, which is getting better, but is nowhere near equal to the infrastructure for the petrol/gas-powered cars. You also have to build more of the charging points, as it takes longer to charge an EV than to fill up a petrol/gas car, say five minutes to fill up your car if you're paying at the pump. No EV can do that, so you need more charging points to handle the same throughput of vehicles, which means more land turned over to the charging points as well. It all grows legs rather quickly.

BIG landmark day today, we exchanged contracts on our new house purchase and the move date is the 19th or 20th, depending on the lead buyer in the chain.

Not much modelling in prospect for a bit, but I should finish the BH8 in time for the end of the GB. I may have to ask myself and TomZ for an extension though............  :-\

Yes it is!

Hope you'll both be very happy in the new digs.

WRT the' milk floats'; if there're problems feeding the grid now, with just the housing demand, how bad will it get when everyone plugs their cars in to charge them?  :o  :banghead:

In the US Pacific Northwest they can't wait to blow up every hydroelectric dam.
