Yeah, I'm usually the one to blame...  ;D
Blame in this case is well deserved matey cause it's official ;D  ... the build is underway ,,,what i've done so far is remove the mounting points for the wings and tail planes and covered em ,,,the wing mounts left two bloody great holes and yep it was fun making them go bye bye ..but so far so good at this point,,,i'm not going to PSR them just yet cause i want to start getting the mounting for the B-24's wings sorted first .
I'll post some pics shortly of the progress

OGL ALWAYS blames me!  :-\
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I've got those pics and yeah ,,they just open more doors to other builds dont they ? ....luckily for me the other B-17 i have is 72nd scale and i'm sure as hell not going to hunt down a 72nd scale Privateer doe its turrets  ;D

As an update before the pics follow i've finally sorted a way to mount the wings to this build as my first idea sucked massive butt burps ,,it looked terrible and i wasn't happy at all..now i have something i can work with and it turns out its given me another place to mount the second upper turret
I think i'll cheat with the canards ,,i've got spare B'24 wings with play with so i'm thinking as ya do ..cut the outer wing off and turn that into a canard ,,,least it will have the same look as the B-24s wings then and won't look out of place  <_<

How many do you want? I think I have three of them in various places at home.  ;D Always handy for a supply of long wings, eh?

Actually the postal costs of one of them out to NZ would require a World Bank loan these days!  :banghead:

Thats vey likely dead true bud ,,, the price of the kit ,,20 bucks,,postage ,,120 bucks ,, ummm what now ?? huh ??
I know the tariffs trumpty dumpty is causing all sorts of problems and i'l l bet thats the main cause  but i'm not 100% sure how it affects us countries which ain't being wallys .

As for the wings ,,,well i couldn't think of  what i might have which would fit the look of the 24's wings ,,,the 17's are to wide and to short ,,so i was thinking a fighter i might have in the stash which might work ,,nope on that ,,none were the right look and then sitting there having a coffee i happen to look over and see the pile of 24 wings sitting there and bingo baby  ;D

Thanks to me good mate Scotaidh i did see something in those pics he posted which i didnt pick up on before and thankfully i have to parts as i do want to base part of this thing in reality ,,the nose turret you can see very clearly in Scotaidh's forth link is the tail turret of a B-24 ,,not the nose one ,,the nose turret has a smooth front on it ,,not the angled one of the tail turret  ;D

All coming along smoothly, then.

And I meant to say, my friend that did the props likes the look of this beastie: "Carry on, Good Sir"

Wardukw

Thank ya Rick mate ,,carry on i have and heres some pic's too
Frist off the pile of parts i mentioned ,,there's plenty to play with here ..

The hacking and slashing has commenced ...first off the removal of the B-17s wing mounts ..nothing hard here

And covered up ..

Also notice the B-24's wing mounts ,,yep ,,cockup time ,,,,I was wondering how the wings would look there and yep ,,i went to town getting it all aligned ,,ready to by smoothed into the fuselage and then i test fitted the wings ...one hundred percent crap ,,they were far to close to the canards so it was ripped apart .
The last two pic's shows the wings new location...here's the two ball turrets as they are now ..
DSCF5224 by Phill Harrison, on Flickr
And the tail turret ,,man theres a heap of work to go here and i'm slowly trying to figure out how to make it look good .
DSCF5226 by Phill Harrison, on Flickr
The nose turret is coming along nicely .

Now this is the look of this bird ,,,yep ,,i've played with the wings  and have i just made a ton more work for myself ? ..hell yes ,,apart from the engines now having to be mounted straight with the leading edge as you do i now have to remove the everything else to do with the engines under the wings which has lead me down another path and this i'm quite happy about ..think this new look will work with quite a high cool factor  ;D
