That looks as if the guns themselves are wired up. Do they fire when it's all completed?

In German its "Kasematte", so the same work.
To be even more pedantic, the building instruction calls them "Doppellafette" - which is simply "gun mount" :)

They "fire" with LEDs in them. I guess there will be a "test fireing" in one of the next steps.

Wouldn't that be "Double gun mount"?  ;)

Step 30/140 More guns.

Anoth of the 15cm guns is added, plus a small circuit board that will later combine all those cables from the guns.

Step 30 parts:

Step 30 completed:

Step 30 hull test

Step 31/140 The final constructions steps for the forward 15 cm guns.

The last of the guns is added and the little motor for the moving mechanism is added. Finally, all cables are put into place and the moving and "fireing" guns can be tested.

Step 31 parts:

Step 31 completed:

Step 31 gun "fireing":

Step 31 hull test

The gun moving mechanism in action:

As far as I can see now, the next steps will be "just" adding some more parts to the hull.

That motor may need a bit of added support before you build the rest of the hull around it. It's moving quite a bit as the guns operate.  :o

Unless the support's in the hull structure above ... Oops! Sorry! ... below the gun deck.

The screws of the motor were not attached tightly enough, now it is not moving around anymore (well, the guns still do)

Step 32/140 The hull continues

The next four steps will be mostly hull parts. So many srews to add. This step will start with the port underwater extension.

Step 32 parts:

Step 32 completed:

With this part, the hull is now 70cm long, this is just a bit over half the final size.

That's going to take up a LOT of shelf space!  :o

Yes, and I already know where I will place it when its completed. But the GF does not know yet. This might be a tough battler, harder than any naval battle in WW2 :)

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Step 33/140 More work on the hull

The big openings will later house boats, their boat davids will be movable. But now its putting the hull together, this time, it was easy going as there was enough working space to fasten the screws.

Step 33 parts:

Step 33 completed:
