My brother was a 7 year apprenticed shipwright. I think he'd appreciate this  ;D

Two more steps, construction now shitfts to the first part of the flight deck

Step 21/140 This one has the (plastic) forward part of the flight deck and a wodden layer to put on top. plus a few detail parts. Also, the catapult from step 3 is added to the flight deck.

Parts of step 21

Step 21 completed (lower side)

Step 21 completed (upper side, catapult retracted)

Step 21 completed (upper side, catapult extended)

The with section of the flight deck would normally contain a flag with a forbidden symbol, therefore this is not included in the model. Have to see what I will make there.

Step 22/140 has more smaller details for the flight deck which are mostly added on the lower side. Also, some LED are added which will later illuminate the lower deck.

Parts of step 22

Step 22 completed (upper side)

Step 22 completed (lower side, lights on)

And what I forgot last time, the hull section is now 45cm long, whioch is longer than most of my other models.

Does it fling Stukas with sufficient force for them to launch across the room?

Enquiring (still 13 years old at heart) minds want to know.   ;D

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

That was my initial thought...  ;D

Hmm, I don't think so. In the next steps, the catapult mechanism will be added and from what I saw (I peeked in the upcoming issues), its just a "boring" motor which will mode the catapult forwars and back.

Would be an even more expensive hobby if you fling those Stukas anyway, I doubt that they would be able to land again :)

#50
The work on the forward flightdeck continues.

Step 23/140 A few smaller boxes for the upper side of the flight deck and some more air preasure containers mounted on the lower side of the flight deck. Some more LEDs, this time to add some light on the flight deck itself.

Step 23 parts:

Step 23 completed (lower side)

Step 23 completed (upper sight, lights on!)

The work on the catapult mechanism continues, but it is comeing closer to its end.

Step 24/140, the little electric motor to power the catapult back and forward plus some covers for the lower sife of the flight deck. The function cannot be tested so far, as the gearbox cover is still missing.

Step 24 parts:

Step 24 completed:

And besides the usual parts, a bonus was included in this delivery, a 1/72 scale metal model of the Me 109 T on the catapult. Nicely made. But when I compare it to my Me 109T scale model, the size is slightly different.

Step 25/140 will complete the moving catapult.

Besides the gearbox cover some very long PE parts are included and those are a bit a pain to add. Did not work so good as I hoped for.
But after the installation of the gearbox cover, a test of the catapult mechanism could be made. Had to adjust the screws a bit as they should not be to tight, otherwise, the catapult does not move at all.

Step 25 parts:

Step 24 completed:

And a short clip of the moving catapult:

By 1943 they could build a Liberty Ship in 39 days.

Just saying...

I am actually enjoying finding out each week what you get to add next.  But it'd be driving me crazy having to wait if it was me.

The Wooksta!

Hope you have a shelf big enough and strong enough to hold it once it's finished...

As an aside, at Telford I noticed that Hannants had the Trumpeter 1/200th HMHS Britannic and for several seconds I was tempted, but then I asked myself how the hell would that fit in the already full car on the journey back to Newcastle and then how the hell I'd stash it in the loft, let alone build and display it.

Mind, I'd have built it as the RMS Britannic, in the proper White Star colours.

Well, every four weeks, I get a package with four editions in it. So I build one every sunday morning, a relaxing build after getting a coffee in the morning.
If I would build all of them at once, I would need to wait another four weeks.

This collection started in early 2024, so if you started back then, you now have close to 100 editions already. But as I had started this summer, I am  just in the 20s so far.

I have an idea where to place it when done. Btw, there is also a showcase part of this subscription. I guess you get it at the end, when it is completed.

I just have to find a way to tell the GF that the model has to be there where I have planned it to be.... :)

Well, I had not expected those PE parts for the model. If this would have benn a plastic kit, I guess it would have been more detailed. But hey, this one will have light, sound, movement and smoke when done.
