Yep Jon ..that's it ...and after a wee bit of hunting I was able to get all four books as PDF downloads ..which I liked 👍

You could always propose Alien Spacecraft for a future GB.

Noted.

Sci Fi GB.  Much more vague and all encompassing.

It's on my list of suggestions.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

If I'm honest then I don't really understand where the boundary between Lunar vehicles/space craft and Sci-Fi lies. I'm not asking for an explanation I just don't get it ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

kerick

Probably meant to be a little more specific as to the function of the vehicle. I'd say a Star Destroyer or USSEnterprise is out of the question. Same with just a rocket that shoots up and collects data and comes back down or a V2.

I keep looking for the pic of a lunar flying vehicle with one suited up astronaut and one engine and four legs like a lunar lander.

I picked up a butchered 1/48th scale Bf 109 kit many moons ago with that exact picture in mind...

I bought all those TTA Handbooks when they were new. As already noted, they go for STUPID money today. A few years back, there was an attempt to produce new editions with extra CG artwork of variable quality. There was also an attempt to get a computer game going, but both projects died.

The first two videos on this playlist animate many of the classic Spacecraft 2000-2100AD ships, and they're glorious (I think this guy was involved with the game project, but don't quote me on that). The rest of the playlist is also well worth your time, especially if you're not familiar with the TTA books:

I always liked the TTA background. It was an optimistic high-tech future, not the "grimdark" of WH40K, but less "boy scout" than Star Trek. Bad things still happened, bad people still existed, imperfection abounded, but the overall trajectory was upwards and outwards.

I'm thinking of Spitfires In Space, firing Laser Cannons!
Dr Who, of course  ;)

I looked at the TTA books when they were first published, but as I was already familiar with many of
the artists and a large percentage
of the artwork I wasn't impressed.
Cowley's attempt to shoehorn all
of the very disparate art into a
single narrative, inventing names,
use and specifications left me cold.
I found the writing to be a poor
collection of unoriginal tropes, and
I still feel the same.

Of course, your mileage may vary.

I'm wondering, in a desultory way, if Space 1889 inspired material , or possibly items from the Transactions of the Royal Martian Geographical  Society    might possibly be acceptable  in this Group Build.

Come to think of it, this:-  https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=47027.msg859621#msg859621      might be of interest too.

Retro themes are definitely possible.
