The 'Essence of Thunderscreech' that surely has Dave, but with a prop it'll look the BUSINESS, specially if it's a square tipped contra-prop.  ;D

Cheers, Kit.

I haven't got any decent spare Firestreaks anyway (other than by robbing an Airfix Lightning, which I'll not do).

So props it is, then.  Not sure about contraprops though, but will give the suggestion some thought, Kit.

And I think it will indeed be called the Folland 'Foghorn' - the backstory will explain more.

Folland Tufnel because it goes up to 11.

Had to re-read through all these messages because for a second I thought you were going to scratch up some Firestreaks to go on this thing.  Sensitive 1950s missile electronics combined with a supersonic prop?  The effectiveness of that is highly suspect

It most definitely has a Screech flavour..really nice work fettling that together

Definitely props. Something with wide blades, cut down for ground clearance if necessary.

Prop will use cut down 1/48 Airfix Hurricane blades.  Before that, though, today is PSR Wednesday.

Wasn't the Foghorn a Farley FAA proposal?

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Foghorn?  If it's British then that's actually a rather fitting name for a turboprop like this.

That's looking good Dave   Must admit I had wondered about contra-proos, there's someting essenstially "British" about them to me for some reason

As for it's maker ? There's something about it that makes me think Blackburn. I think it's the wings and tail looking like something from a spruced up Buccaneer in my eyes ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

😂

Too sleek for Blackburn, eccentric enough for Teddy Petter to have designed it.  And as he was at Folland at the time.....

Anyway, mucho application of wet and dry wet-and-dry paper of different grades this evening.  Pleased with the results, did need a little more filler here and there so that's on ready to be attacked tomorrow.

Still want to paint it an overall blue.  Study of colour pics of the Midge and Gnat prototypes suggest something between RAF Azure Blue and PRU Blue so a trip to the LHS to seek out a suitable acrylic paint is needed tomorrow.

As for contraprops, I know what you're all getting at.  Will compare the 'Foghorn' to my 'Screech plans and work out the feasibility.

No pics today as the build is pretty much the same as last night, only smoother!

That's the frequently quoted 'Petter Blue', the same as I used on the Dalgety prototype for the Bad Ideas build. A lovely colour!

'Petter Blue'; not sure I'm up for mixing paint for this GB, but let's see what a delve into the LHS throws up (or can be explained away in the backstory 😉).

Contraprops was a British thing at the time, and Folland did put one on the Fo.117 proposal with 2.500hp Centaurus. But you'll need handed prop blades if you want contraprops on this one.
