What a haul! Now I expect to see that F-105 in Finnish decals soon! It would have driven the Russians nuts!
A nice thing about the Revell-Monogram F-105 is the split airbrake parts around the exhaust. It makes it easy to do a parked F-105 as when the hydraulic pressure would bleed off after being shut down the bottom petal would droop down. It's the only kit I know of that has that.

Nice haul of transfers!

I have to admit I keep buying part sheets, too - usually for only the one or two items, while the rest of the sheet comes along for the ride...

From Airfix:

1/144th SLS Artemis space rocket
ANOTHER free 1/72nd Beaufort (maybe I could do a display team?)
2 tins of Metalcote spray paint, which I didn't know was a thing: Polished Aluminium and Polished Steel

From Ebay:

Spare parts from an AZ 1/72nd scale He 162D: forward swept wings, gull wings, and the H-tail.

Nothing to do with me sir ; I think  ;)

Nice haul, the transfers especially
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I've only just become aware of the spray can Metalcote as well. I've most of the Metalcote enamels (may have all of them) and really do like them, they brush very well.

Yeah, there's only the two colours but they work well.  They're what I painted the manned Blue Steel with.

Does 3D printing custom kits to add to the stash for later count here?

Looking it up properly, it was Mr @Weaver who put me on the Hustler trail, albeit a somewhat larger version, as can be read >HERE<

Sorry about that, Weaver, old chap. Especially as I think your idea is a really good one!

Your welcome!

I'd never seen that Revell B-58A before, so I looked it up: it's 1/91st scale, whereas the Monogram one I did the comparisons with is 1/121st scale. Scaleorama-ing them to 1/72nd scale gives lengths of 23.35m for the Revell and 17.56m for the Monogram. By way of comparison, the Mirage IV was 23.49m long, TSR.2 was 27.00m and the F-111 was 22.4m. I think you made a good choice there: the Monogram one would have been barely longer than a Viggen.

Pure luck, and maybe a keen eye for sizes. I could look at the pieces in the box, and it "felt" right at a first glance. Fettling with the stuff at home, it looks quite ok, actually. But it's not going to fall together Hasegawa style, that's for sure..  ;D

It's a pretty solid project though. One thing you could do to make it easier is keep the two Viggen fins on the engine pods instead of the big central one. That would also explain why there are fairings on top of the engine pods (i.e. the Viggens' spines). The end reult would look like a very aggressive Swedish SR-71! :o

I had a similar idea ages ago (pre-modelling revival) for a Buccaneer equivalent called the Preston Privateer, which had an SR-71-style fuselage/wing/engine setup (but normal engines), with a Hunter T.7 cockpit and nose, and small ride-control canards (like a B-1's LARC fins) on the sides of the cockpit hump. Many years later, I got British Secret Projects 2, and discovered that English Electric had studied exactly such a layout (amongst many others) in their initial concept work for TSR.2!

From Ebay:

Airfix 1/144th Saturn V
Airfix 1/144th Orion 2001 Spacecraft

Both in tatty boxes but sealed bags, and both at a MUCH more reasonable price than Airfix are asking for new Saturn Vs or the collectors' market is asking for Otion shuttles...

That thought has crossed my mind, but on the other hand, that Draken fin on the central fuselage is.. enthusing..  ;)
To be rather honest, I don't know where this will take me yet, but the central fuselage and the inner wings from the Hustler, and the engine pods and outer wings from Viggen, that's for sure. And hopefully an oversize Draken nose. But we'll see.
