Ah - I knew it was a real aircraft but wasn't aware of its service record. I need to check the options in the box. Never mind, I find the AZ 109's nice, relaxing builds, especially if you've had a tricky one on the desk just prior to one.

Thanks   Mind you folding wing-tips ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Better to find out about it here than from a JMN at a show. It's also more "information gap filling" than anything else anyway. I look forward to the results of your endeavors with the kit anyway.

From SMTF Models, (the only local hobby shop left apart from Hobbycraft):

Emhar 1/72nd McDonnell F3H-2N/2M Demon

Got this because on reflection, the Sparrow Is in the XF-92A kit are too ghastly to use, even if claimed to be something totally ficticious. The options for Sparrow Is were therefore to buy a resin aftermarket set for £9+P&P, or buy the Demon, nick the Sparrows, and still be left with a perfectly buildable kit (it comes with the alternative rocket pods). Yes, I could have given it Falcons, but that'd be boring.

Had a mixed bag of deliveries this week,

1/72 Airfix Wessex HC2 (mostly to see what its like as my preference is the Royal Navy versions - Not sure if Airfix will do one after seeing the kit, but they will probably do other RAF boxings - transport and SAR)
1/72 Airfix Hampden (Just see what its like as never had one !)
1/700 Jim Shirely resin Sumner FRAM destroyer - (to be 1982 Argentinian )
1/700 Pitroad JMSDF DDH-184 Kaga STOVL carrier (this is the modified ship with the rebuilt squareed off fwd flight deck as an F-35B carrier)
Project Cancelled SIG Secretary, specialising in post war British RN warships, RN and RAF aircraft projects. Also USN and Russian warships

You must have got the last one or thereabouts, since it's gone out of stock now.

Thorvic,  looks like a great addition.  But ( sorry) are you certain on that Kaga?  She seems a wee bit big at 1:72 ?   :o   ( sorry)

From Ebay:

Italeri 1/72nd B-26K Counter-Invader
Airmodel 1/72nd Helio U-10B Courier
Italeri 1/72nd F-15E Strike Eagle

So here's what happened, officer...

I was reading the listing on the Air-Craft Models site for their B-26K correction set, and I wondered idly how easy it was to get hold of the Italeri kit these days. So naturally, I had a look on Ebay. There were two: one for £28 with missing decals :o, and one which, on closer examination, also included the rare-as-rocking-horse-doodles Airmodel U-10B. It needed the "closer examination" because the seller had listed it so badly, with only the B-26K in the first picture and a title so long that the single-line search listing cut off the bit about the Helio, which was why it was still at £22 with just two bidders with 11 hours to go. So, with a bit of last-minute bid-sniping, I got it. I suppose I'l just have to buy the Air-Graphics set now... <theatrical and totally unconvincing sigh>

The Airmodel Helio Courier is, to put it bluntly, awful, but it's super-rare and the only kit ever of this type, so I think that one's going into "collector's corner" for a few years until a rainy day hits.

The F-15E is an old and pretty poor model with, oddly, a GEPOD gun-pod on the centreline (mainly an F-16 weapon, I thought?), however it has the redeeming feature that the solid "hump" behind the canopy is moulded as a separate piece, which means I can easily nick it to two-seaterize my Modelsvit Mirage 4000. Maybe I can do something with the FAST-packs and the single-seat F-15 I've got? There was a proposal for an "RF-15" IIRC, with cameras in the nose and IRLS+SLAR in the FAST-packs.

Yes.  The F-15Cs (and Ds) that 57FIS had up in Iceland were equipped with fast packs...and IIRC, the Italeri F-15C boxing with the "IS" base code on box art also has them.

Hmmm, I didn't  know it was that rare. I have one in The Loft somewhere, I'll have to dig it out.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Wouldn't be that hard for them to do a Navy HU.5 though, would it? Small extra sprue with wheel floation bags and a bit of aerialology?
