Here's my latest finished bit of what-iffery:  a  Fairey Rotodyne

Only took me about three years to build the damn thing! Definitely NOT the best model I've ever built.

You've done a beauty job on a kit that takes a lot of work

I'm impressed - I keep getting mine out of the stash, looking at it, and putting it back again !

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

In that cas, I'd hate to be in the same model competion as you.  :)
Wonderfull piece of work.

Nice model!!

Having built two of the Airfix Rotodynes, I understand the trials you have endured getting to completion!

I am planning a RAAF Rotodyne as my third build, adding wing tip fuel tanks and other embellishments

Well done, once again!

cheers

Wow, looks great. My Rotodyne got half built and went back in the hangar for finishing at a later date. It's a bit of a pig to build....

Beauty ! Great job on that one...love the colour, and the cockpit shot.....looks like some little dudes could jump in and fly away right now !

Always liked that bird...too bad it didn't go into production......

And the more I think of RAAF jobs, I think of how nice that kit would be grafted to a Hobbycrap Caribou fuselage !

Ditto on that thought, after seeing that beauty it might stay there a bit longer, great job I love it

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Awsome work!! My rotodyne is still in the stash awaiting building. Got to finalise a scheme and a role for it yet though.

Not the greatest kit, eh?

Any, uh, tips/advice for a crazy Canuck who plans on turning one into a more regular, mid-sized cargo plane (no rotor)???

Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Leigh

Why on God's green earth would you build a Rotodyne without a rotor?
I think someone either needs their meds or needs to share them.

Thank you all for your compliments gentlemen.

My original plan was to do it as a Gunship version just like the ACH-47 Chinook gunship - nose mounted grenade launcher, rotary cannon mounted on the open ramp, side mounted 50 cals and M-60s as well as rocket pods but all that enthusiasm evaporated in a cloud of Tamiya putty dust. Maybe another day when the horror fades.

NOOOOOO....don't do it! Crazy!! Now that I believe    By the time you rebuild the top of the fuselage and stretch the wingspan you'd have been better off buying a Caribou and turning that into a Rotoplane.

Very nice!

The only things I might have done differently would be to put a radome on the nose somewhere and door guns on either side just aft of the cockpit.

Though, if you say it was a pain to get together, then I can't fault you for being happy just to have it together.

I love the Rotodyne, it had such potential.

It seems several of us have started projects with that beast of a kit. The plane itself was brilliant , just the model gives fits.  <_<

I like what you did with the tail, turning those annoying clamshell doors into a simpler ramp; I might steal your idea.  ;)

I'm building mine as a Royal Navy COD bird for the Invincibles. I'm blocking off most of the windows, adding a deck, walls, and ceiling, and am looking for some military-type seats to go along the sides, like other transports. I've a bunch of HO scale cargo and a forklift to make a diorama.

If I'm ever foolish enough to buy another, it'll be built as an armed USMC assault transport.
In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

Leigh

Am I feeling a group build coming on? It's seems that we all have one in the stash. ^_^
