Back from Model Expo.  Swap and Sell was in a new, bigger room which meant it was less swampy and smelt better.
There were less small, old kits this year.  This meant I only filled one shopping bag instead of two and didn't get any Cessnas which was a shame.
One bloke was selling three or four 1/72 Boeing 747s for $120 each but despite Brad C's voice in my head saying "do it, do it, you know you want to..." I resisted the temptation to buy one and build the PDRV presidential aircraft Republic One.
But I did add to the stash with these.

Dewoitine is ex Heller.
Sea Lion is a lovely delicate resin kit.
Voodoo includes a resin F-101A/C nose and white metal landing gear.
Capri is 1/25.  Mrs z's mum had a 1600 '69 Capri.  This isn't right in the detail as it's the Mk II shape and has a V6 but it is the closest I have yet found and so will get the same paint job (BRG with gold go faster stripes and Super Roo stickers).

And from the Metro Hobbies stand I could not resist this.

Only you could post that comparison  ;) ;D

The Karaya Sealion kit was a good price and as for the S.55, what's it like ?

Impulse buy at $5 a piece. This are neat, they're really easy to assemble with things going on like wings and fuselage as one piece, etc.

I've built a few of those - mainly the He 162 - ideal kits for wiffery.

At the new Elstree show (we should consider a SIG stand next year)

Very much so. I had a word with some of the host club members on the way out to congratulate them on a very good first show and they said they will be starting to look at next years show round about Telford time. One of those I spoke to was aware of us as a SIG and said that he'd always enjoyed our displays

So what did I get at the Elstree show, apart from lost ?

My main spend was a major re-stock of my paint supplies. I'd ordered most of these before hand from the Big H but they didn't have a couple I needed so I was "forced" to buy a set to get them, which of course means I have 4 colours I don't currently need to restock and also pushed the price up  :banghead: I don't mind the Hataka sets because they don't artificial make their sets up to a set number of colours. If it needs 4 you just get 4, if it needs 14 you get 14, but the others I find annoying even on a good day. The set I bought includes white to get the number up to 8  :-X

Also got a couple of Yahu instrument panels.

Kit wise I just bought 2.

1/72 AZ CR-32 Hungarian AF boxing. Will be real world, an aircraft from the 1939 War with The Slovak State.

1/72 IBG Crusader Mk.III AA tank. Yes Chris bought a tank - I couldn't find a ship I fancied. It's new tool and has an interesting approach to the tracks and running gear (I'll post some photos) plus I've always liked the Crusader AA for some reason. Real world, out of the box so either Polish Armoured Division or 7th Armoured Division NW Europe 1944.

A massive haul you got there Fred.

Why does the Voodoo need a new nose? I've got a few of them and never found a need for anything other than the stock Hase offering.

Stopped at Dean's in Owosso this weekend. I wanted to get something with wheels to do my scratch built truck train for my Harrier engine swap build dio. Found a couple of perfect donors :

48th scale Arii SCUD-B R-17 Missile and AL ABBAS SS-1C Remade

To go along with those, I also purchased the Airfix 48th scale Operation Herrick vehicle crew set, and the quad bikes and crew set.

I was also happy to see that, still on the shelf, was the 48th scale Monogram RF-101B Recon Voodoo that I should have bought last time !

The Academy 1/72 Boeing B-29A now includes parts for the KP-29 tanker variant,  I wish I had known before as the KP-29 is an expensive kit to buy on it's own.
I also bought an Italeri 1/72 RF-4C/E Rhino.

Fred, there is/was a kit of the Capri mk 1 in 24th/25th - I have one somewhere but can't remember the manufacturer and it's a bit basic.  Doyusha maybe?

I'm wanting to do it as Reegan's motor from the Doctor Who story "The Ambassadors of Death"

Edit: Having dug it out fairly easily, I can confirm it's Doyusha.

Now I have both of these in the stash;

1 x Trumpeter 1/350 HMS Dreadnought 1907 (TR 05328)
1 x Trumpeter 1/350 HMS Dreadnought 1918 (TR 05330)

at some stage I'll be building my whif HMAS Australia (I) in both her battlecruiser & aircraft carrier guises ... at some stage!

Thanks Lee.  I've built a couple of the Doyusha car kits.  Detail on the bodies has been excellent but the chassis and interiors were crude and engineered to take an electric motor.  Worse, scale was varied so they all fit the same chassis.
I'll still keep an eye out for one though as it could be fitted to the AMT chassis or built kerbside with a scratched up interior.
The Australian market Capris had some differences to the European Mk 1 were still closer to it than to the Mk II.

...The Karaya Sealion kit was a good price and as for the S.55, what's it like ?

Sea Lion was indeed a bargain.  I have yet to check for warping but it looks OK at first glance.  I haven't opened the S55 bags but it looks finely moulded with excellent detail.  Engines are resin and that wing is huge.  Only possible issue might be cutting out the windows in the hulls if I decide to build the variant which had them.

...Why does the Voodoo need a new nose? I've got a few of them and never found a need for anything other than the stock Hase offering.
Hasegawa kit is the RF-10 C with a camera nose.  The resin nose is a pointy one for building an F-101A or C.

I think what I have is the Airwaves nose.  I haven't had a proper look yet.

Looks good Robert.
