Wow!

This just in from Squadron - and it's also the first kit they're producing themselves.

It's a Haunebu II German Flying Saucer.  It's a pretty massive looking thing even in its 1/72nd scale.  It also looks exceptionally well detailed.  For fans of the off beat, of Luft '46 subjects, science fiction, and those who just want to have some outlandish fun - this should be just the ticket.

They're taking pre-orders now and are looking at an end of January, 2017, availability.

It also looks rather expensive - I can have an Airfix Victor for less and still have change for a decent bottle of rum!

Tempting as it is, I'll give it a miss.

Make sure it's a good one.  I suggest this:

I am with this sentiment also, love a good rum but I'll go with a good single malt......

It takes only one drink to get me drunk. The trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or the fourteenth.

35?  I can live with that.  I'll ask Uncle Frank to get one in.

All the nasty weapons are coming off though.

This is a pretty large model, if the unboxing video from Squadron is anything to go by. Like 18" across the lower surface plate, or something close. It's not cheap, but not totally unreasonable either.
All hail 1:72!

Wooksta,

"Nasty weapons?"  Like what?  Those two upper canons?  The ventral turrets?  Do tell!

I've a predilection for finishing Luft 46 subjects in a captured state.  That is, with their Nazi markings quite obviously painted over and new Allied markings hastily applied in their place.  This, as if they'd been afreshly acquired and were on their way out of Germany (or their secret Antarctic base) for the technical evaluation boffins to boff.

The cost and size of this one however, makes it more likely that she'll be done in a stock operational livery.

I think it'll be just the thing to park next to my C-57D in full-up SAC colors.  Now, if only there was a Lost In Space (TV) Jupiter 2 in 72nd to park next to them!

Y'know I'm almost certain that I've seen a 1:72 chariot on ebay. Admittedly not the Jupiter 2 itself but probably as close as you're going to get.
All hail 1:72!

The weapons are coming off as they just don't look right on the design.  The lower ones definitely have to go as these are supposedly the field propulsion units, not gun turrets.

Funny though, just about every picture on google shows them as turrets. Where did you get your information from Lee?

Just as I'm finishing watching Season 2 of The Man In The High Castle too! Speaking of Luft 46 has anyone seen Iron Sky?

Sadly, I can't afford this kit right now. :(  And by the time I actually do, I'm sure every place selling them will be sold out.
Modeling isn't just about how good the gluing or painting, etc. looks. It's also about how creative and imaginative you can be with a subject.

Nowhere specific - I just read a lot of UFO books and have watched a few Mark Mckandlish videos on youtube.

The evidence for Nazi saucers is highly dubious at best and anything you read on the subject should be taken with an ocean of salt.
