By Mad Martin found on the "Facebook Scale Modellers" page.

"What if... The Blue Angels had flown the F-14 Tomcat? 📷:-) More pictures of my fictional F-14D Tomcat "Blue Angels" in scale 1/144. Basekit is from Trumpeter, some parts are from Revell, scratchbuild flaps and other details. Decals are a mix from different manufacturers, yellow parts of the fuselage are airbrushed. Hope you enjoy! "

That's a 'Shoulda been real' model if ever I saw one!
Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

Yeah!!! I understand the whole "costs" aspect of it and what not but what they COULD have done is just have a single Tomcat (and one back up, naturally) to do solo stuff and perhaps even join in with the Hornets for a couple maneuvers. I bet it would have been wildly popular.

Though IIRC the Navy pilots tend to be either Hornet or Tomcat people - nothing in between, and for the Hornet folk to have given any concessions of time or airshow space to a Tomcat would have been unthinkable...  ;D

But it would have made for an impressive display.

I saw the Angels do their thing in their F-4J period and they were truly AWESOME!

No doubt!  ;D  I'm in team Tomcat, for sure.   It could very well be my favorite fighter jet. (I like Hornets, too though....  ) This has me wanting to build one all of a sudden.

Canberra conversion to take a Buccaneer radar and nose close-up shot I took on 11th October 1976 at Luqa Malta, it was known as the Canberra T.22.
I try to learn from the mistakes of others who take my advice.

A zillion years ago RayHex did that T22 nose conversion, and there's been one more recently too.
