Don't let ageing get you down, it's too hard to get back up

PR19_Kit

Exactly, and that's just ONE of them!

One Lightning pic has Tornado style intakes either side of the cockpit, as well as the nose intake! And one of the Dart pics has tailplanes, and so it goes on!

Total rubbish!

I have started to search for objects as scale models, counting on JMNs accurately capturing the essence of the thing.

Don't people know how to look something up? Do they figure everyone is too stupid to know better so what the heck? Do they already trust AI so much they don't even question anything? I'm afraid for my granddaughter's future.

Similarly, although I have no children, I'm very much afraid for my great neice's and nephew's future.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

A large percentage - No, they don't know how to look things up.
Young people are being taught that people from Gen X & earlier are fallible, are liars & the cause of the World's woes & that computers are the only infallible source of "Truth".
Then they introduced AI - which generally can't see or think in 3D, can't distinguish fiction from fact, & has no concept of critical thinking - & have promoted it to the upcoming generations as the answer to all of their problems.
Has a life outside of What-If & wishes it would stop interfering!

I post these dreadful things to amuse, and perhaps to inspire someone to build one of these, and then put it next to an accurate model - as I have vowed to do with all my models since finding out that most folks can't tell a whif from truth.

And one of the biggest lies out there? "That's your truth..." There seems to have been a massive blurring of what constitutes an individuals opinion and what are facts.

Children descended from us here should be OK because we are not stupid.

As for the rest though...

Completely AI generated slop, narration and images. The silly
images are secondary, what's
more important is the BS story
and the idiocy that shows up in the comments of this sort of tripe.
Repetition of old myths and garbled versions of actual events are very
common in the comments, not only in this crap but in youtube "history"
videos in general.

if you think its the young who are
the most credulous, you're kidding
yourself.

When it comes to history what is
considered or treated as "fact" does
change over time. Some things that people think are facts aren't, it's just that they've been presented as such. Sometimes with intent but most often because they were based on the misinterpretation of incomplete data, thus when more data comes to light that leads to a more complete interpretation of the data, the historical "facts" change.

Oh, yeah don't mistake truth for fact, they're not the same thing and never have been. Truth is not a singular thing and people have always had their own truths, the best example is religious "Truth" which is based on belief rather than observable physical reality.

PR19_Kit

That's all very well, but how do you determine what actually IS 'true'?

You can spend hours traipsing back and forth through books, web sites, videos etc. but finding the actual 'truth' is always a guessing game.

2+2=4 is true. Sodium plus chlorine makes salt is true. Most other things are opinions. Problem becomes when opinions are uninformed and frequently more of a fantasy. That doesn't stop people from spouting their "truth" all over the place. I've said before, listening to stuff on the internet is like listening to a drunk on a barstool. Only the internet allows millions of drunks to spout off to millions of listeners.

Never look at the comments on you tube.  They always degenerate into "yours is poo-poo and mine is best.  Yah boo sucks to you."
