I think they missed a trick, surely the bloke in the picture should be wearing a bobble hat and whining in an annoying, know-it-all nasal voice.....

But George Lazenby WAS the best James Bond...

He had the best Bond babe.

I grew up on Moore, but think Brosnan was a better Bond than Lazenby.

I'm still a fan of Timothy Dalton. He brings that darkness from the books to Bond that Daniel Craig copied.

Dalton is under appreciated as Bond but he brought the character of James Bond back down to earth from the absurdity that the later (far too old) Moore took it to.

My favourite Bond is Daniel Craig, with Connery a close second & Dalton not far behind him.

Roger Moore was good in the early films but by the last few he was past it, becoming crass & gimmicky to cover his poor performance, Brosnan fits in between the early & late Moore depictions.

To my mind Lazenby, for a generally unknown actor, let his ego & an apparent laziness get in the way of becoming a good (or better) Bond.

The less said about Niven & his version of "Casino Royale" the better.

Isn't Thread Drift an amazing thing!?  ;D  ;)

I've been of the mind, since day 1, that the reason many people disliked Lazenby wasn't because he was Lazenby, but simply because he wasn't Connery. They just weren't ready.

Fair assessment.
I have also heard that he was new to Stardom, and was pushing boundaries - taking it too far, but he didn't know what was 'Acceptable Star Excess' and what wasn't.

Not an opinion, just what I've read.

Probably correct, since IMDB shows it as his first film or TV appearance. Looks like he literally came out of nowhere.
