The fins are made from super strong SWEDISH steel.  ;D
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I'm not sure but I think it's by Swedish Air Force technician Emil Lindberg who also is a modeller and an invaluable source for near current data about RSwAF aircraft.

Regardless, it is a really inspiring piece of artwork.

Cool, I am just not certain about the Saab 18's twin fins so close to the hot jet efflux?

Agree, but on the other hand, it's really pretty, so..
Then again, the stabilisators are somewhat angled upwards, and if you just angle the exhausts somewhat downwards..  Or a T-tail, maybe?

Speaking of pretty - I'm eyeing up your old Sk90 trainer, Thomas, and if I stumble on a T-4 kit, I'll probably have a go at an Sk90C armed trainer. It's a really good concept you came up with..

Thank sou. Yes, the Sk90 is a simple livery whif, but it is a nice and plausible Saab 105 successor. It just "works" so well.  ;)
To my surprise, I have already built four Sk90s (Swedish with camera nose, Scottish, Austria, and Hungary)!

BTW, I now know waht the jet-powered Saab 18 reminds me of: an F2H-3 Banshee night fighter, to nose looks very similar!

Yeah, it's something like the result of a threesome between a Banshee, an Il-28 Beagle and a He 219 fighter. Love is a beautiful thing, indeed.. ;)

And having written that, I find that I'll have to leave a few bomber type no's between the SAAB B18 and that Lindberg Draken based model I'm planning as I write. Obviously, there could have been something along the technical lines of the Canberra or the Beagle between the B18 and the A32A Lansen..

A Vautour-esque "thing" would fit well?  ;)

Yes, that too.  You could start with a straight winged aircraft, then progressing to a swept winged one.

I was thinking 262 wings and pods right off the bat.

For 1:72 Me 262 wings of the same scale might be a bit small, but 1:48...? Hmmmm...

I can relate to that! I was privileged, many years ago to sit in the cockpit of a real Bf-109!! Cramped isn't the word!! Bf-109 pilots must have been pretty small! I'm 184 cm tall and, well built! It was a very tight squeeze ;D  ;D  . If I recall, there was actually a captured Bf -109 that had it's canopy removed to accomodate the height of the RAF test pilot?

I've also seen a 109 up close that cockpit is very tight. Anybody thinking about putting two people in there must be imagining someone the size of children!

I do remember reading amny yrs ago about how cramped the 109's cockpit was ,,,it said that anyone over 6ft tall would find it tight ,,seems that was a bit of an understatement it would seem  :o  ;D
After doing the math i'm 188cm tall and like Monster ,,i'm built so to speck so i've got no chance  <_<
Hell a wee minute ago when i got the chance to sit in a F-86 Sabre i felt a bit tight ,,its only when ya realized i wasn't wearing a parachute or a helmet and my head was still higher than the canopy i knew then ,,nope ,,not much chance of fling one of these  ;D

The Folland Gnat was a very tight squeeze, got to sit in a couple of T.1s when I was an air cadet.

Very snug.  Was told there was a very high risk to those of a certain height (don't recall exactly what but 5' 8'' rings a bell - anyone know for sure?) would lose their kneecaps were they forced to eject.

Part of the reason Hunter T.7s were also used in the advanced trainer role alongside the Gnat in RAF service.

Ohhh name that's such a small plane..I stood beside one at Duxford donkeys back and I wouldn't even attempt to get in one  ;D

I managed to get to sit in a 617 Sqdn Tornado GR4 at Lossiemouth once (It's WHO you know that counts......  ;D ) and I was amazed to find I was too tall to fit the front seat properly at 6'1"!  :o

My knees were UNDER the edge of the panel and I'd have had no lower legs left if I'd have had to eject. It amazed me that such a modern design had such limitations on the size of its crew! Apparently the GIBs had much more room to move about.

I've also "flown" in an F-4 Phantom simulator. The Phantom is a huge aeroplane but, there's still precious little room in the cockpit. Same with the Vulcan.
