Nice kit, except for the cowling. Ignore the instructions regarding the instructions and attach each half to it's respective fuselage half and go from there. Makes life a lot easier.

Here's my origional note on site.

This is my third KP Tempest Mk II and I now at least seem to have cracked its construction. It's a lovely build apart from the cowling. So, ignore the instructions which would have you build a complete cowling and attach that to the fuselage and instead attach each cowling half to its respective fuselage and then assemble the two complete fuselage halves as per normal.

And here's the link to the build on site

https://www.whatifmodellers.com/index.php?topic=51846.0

Hope that helps

That will be no help at all Chris as the kit I have bought is the Special Hobby one, not the KP one.

The Wooksta!

Be warned that the SH Tempest II is not a nice build.  The resin insert for the wing will need the top sanding so thin as to be translucent, the bottom sanding down AND the inside of the wing sanding before the sodding thing will close.  I gave up before even thinking about the cockpit tub and got shot of all of them.

I've a CMR one somewhere for when I want a Tempest II with all the bells and whistles.

Already knew about that problem, well it was in the back of my mind at any rate, so no harm with a reminder. I already have one in the stash, I thought another one or two would not go amiss as there were three real world operators, who knows how many whiff ones.

Well, one of my Tempests turned up today, although that was the second of two ordered. I tried to get the seller to chase up the courier, but ended up getting a refund. The other kit should have arrived on the 26th of last month, so a reasonable time has passed since then, and there has been no sign of movement of the tracker since the 23rd. Perhaps I should ask the courier if they know anything about it.
Modelling-wise, I am getting on with the Buckingham, and I have decided to also try and build a Royal Navy ship for Perth.

I have the week before Perth as a holiday, and the Mojo is with me at the moment. I just want to build and paint takes time to dry, as does glue. What else am I to do.

Best of luck with THAT Alastair!

Seemingly  most of them have NO human beings on their staff as you always end up talking to some AI 'voice' on the phone, or 'chatting' to one on the Net.!  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I do realise that in contacting that company, I will not be speaking to a person. However, I did have a missing parcel turn up once after contacting them, so it's worth a shot. Mind you, they have at least two more that they have lost.

In other news, my mum's email got hacked again yesterday. At least I am now getting messages to say that it is happening and can deal with it. Much quicker to get sorted, seeing that by using my details as a point of contact, how quickly we can get things done.

Sunday's usually a quiet day with an hour spent visiting my mum, who turns ninety later this year. Today's visit was normal until the alarm system that was built into the flat went off. Imediatly I trace the noise to a box in a cupboard which has a large electrical box next to it. The thing is, although that might be the brains of the operation, it's not where the alarm gets reset.  :banghead:
So moving to the control panel, I enter the control code and start pressing other buttons which are very small and have even smaller words written on them, how wonderful   Eventually I get the system to be quiet. Then it starts again, this time I am better prepared, and I silence the beast with greater precision and less faffing around.  Everything is good, and the alarm remains quiet, which allows me to head home. I blame the cause on the wet and windy weather, but I am considering trying to find out how to disable the entire system. There could be a circuit breaker somewhere or something like that. WHy? Because a short time ago I had a phone call from my mother, and I could hear the alarm in the background very easily. So I have been back to hers, and shown her where the code is and which button to press afterwards. Hopefully, I don't get another phone call asking me to go to hers again for this alarm. In fact, I think I shall send my sisters an email on how to reset the alarm, seeing that they all work localy where as I am a good thirty miles away.

Considering the local university has had the alarm to their sports ground equipment going off constantly thanks to the wind blowing the roller shutters, sounds like your mum has a very similar problem!

That is my thought exactly. The alarm that shows is the "Tamper" alarm, which is probably a general alarm rather than anything specific. Two out of three sisters have replied. Thank god they are all younger than me, as I didn't fancy getting hand-me-downs when I was still at school.

From what I recall working alarms at Spirit Halloween, a tamper alarm is being tripped because either the sensors or the alarm panel aren't closed tightly or one of the tamper switches isn't opening the circuit when the cover is closed.

Not managed to do much modelling, but bits and pieces have been done. The wings of the Buckingham are together, and the turret support is in place. I think I will add a couple of blanking pieces as there are gaps fore and aft of the turret ring that will probably allow people to look inside. Not much more internal work to do, and then the fuselage will be closed up.
The Royal Navy Ship I am hoping to finish for Perth has had a few more items added to it. The model is of a Type 21 Frigate that was given to me by @Thorvic so I have finally found a use for one of them. I almost had a bit of a panic as I could not find the foremast that I had been working on over the weekend. I am not detailing the ship much, but glueing parts together and removing the seam lines and the like is what I am doing, generally cleaning her up.
Not heard anything from either my sisters or mother about any alarms going off, so I can hope that it was just due to the latest storm to hit Scotland that was the cause.

Be nice to see one updated, with Mike at Starling doing some decent 3d detail parts, and your expanded library including some of the proposed upgrades it should look quite tasty

Must admit despite getting the excellent Starling 1/700 Leander kits a revisit of the airfix Leander in 1/600 with the 3D upgrade set and etch is a tempting distraction
