Cheers mate

In the meantime I'm currently in the throws of installing a new laptop. Oh the joys of getting to grips with Windows 10 and Micro Soft Edge.  :banghead: It's their inability to accept that anybody might want to use some software or a package that isn't controlled by themselves that really, really gets me. And talk about hiding away the ways you can do this in odd places with non sensical instructions ! They'd make Machiavelli proud.

Still onwards and upwards

If ever the saying 'If it ain't broke, DON'T fix it!' applied, Windows 10 is the ultimate example.  :banghead:

It's total rubbish compared to Win7.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

That's why I'm not giving up on my Win8.1 laptop until it suffers a serious meltdown.

Unfortunately my Windows 7 laptop was getting very old and very, very slow. I think even it knows it's due a nice, comfortable retirement as first reserve.

I've never been a Mac user, mainly because back in the day they were deemed more useful for those in the graphics/print/artistic industries (as you were Lee) and most businesses used Windows. So I grew up on it.

Our first family computer was so old, the data discs were 78 rpm shellac!  My son's phone has several orders of magnitude more computing power.  I too grew up on Windows  but for creative work I can quite understand Lee's preference for  Mac.

It  means that you read  the instruction sheet

Getting there I think. The key was working out how to turn off one of the pre set Windows defaults. Not exactly intuitive, indeed more counter intuitive I would say  :banghead:

I use a Mac because one day Mrs z (Railtrack IT at the time) brought one home for me.  It had been bought as a trial, was unsuccessful, and was to be got rid of.  So, because I can never refuse a freebee it was got rid of into our spare room.  Since then, while i've used PCs for work i've always had a Mac to do my own thing on.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

One step forward, one step................... :-\

I think I dislike HP almost as much as MS. I got a new printer about a year ago, wireless connection and easy peasy to set up, but getting it to connect with my new p.c. ???????

About the only question I wasn't asked was my eye colour and like most men I have no idea and even if I did the current lady in my life would disagree

I got there in the end, but I'm convinced the rigmarole was purely in an effort to get you to give up and buy a new printer. If I'd been on hourly rates it probably would have been cheaper

Still just need to connect my camera now so I can download and post build pics and then it will "simply" be a matter of transferring files from the old laptop to the new one. I can take my time with this stage as I want to sort out and organise a lot of the files at the same time. There's a lot of stuff that can be stored on an external drive for any future reference, doesn't need to be on the p.c.

So hopefully I can get some modelling done on Thursday ?

A little bit of progress before it got to hot and sticky. Mainly spent creating a colour card with all my various metal colours so I could see where the least/greatest contrasts are. Mostly you can't see any discernible difference between them, but I think I now know the  shades I'll be using on the Thud's overall silver.
