Thought it would be that way mate. Same over here a lot of the time now.

The days of six figure redundancies are long gone, and yes I do know a couple of guys (or knew) who got some really big ones back in the 70's when BSC was slimming down. Made redundant after 30/40 years and then take full pension 6 months latter ! Best of luck to them

DC-3 yesterday while I was out in the front yard raking leaves on a mostly

I heard something louder then usual approaching, and got a pretty good look when it got to the patch of blue sky. They don't visit all that often.

Had the country's sole airworthy PBY fly over the other day, having taken off after (presumably) a fuel stop. At first I thought it was the DC-3 that sometimes does airline runs, so it was doubly exciting!

It was so low and rumbly I saw the neighbour's dog watch it go by!

So there we were, Madame R and I, Christmas shopping in Hereford, when a maroon coloured Sikorsky S-76 clattered very low overhead, making for the SAS lines at Credenhill. Princess Anne was attending a Townswomen's Guild carol service in Hereford Cathedral.........which was awkward  for us as Madame R needed to get into the cathedral office to sign off some paperwork and the whole area was wall to wall  fitted constabulary! Some time later, as we drove home past Credenhill, we saw the self-same helicopter having just taken off.  Calculating from when we know the carol service ended, we reckon HRH just about had time to be driven to the SAS place, take sherry with the adjutant, use the loo and then set off home to be back in time for tea.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Not over my house, but beside my airplane.  Taking off from Charlotte for a post-Christmas getaway to Boston...NC Air National Guard's new (for them) C-17s that are replacing the C-130s they operated for decades.
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

In my backyard, a pair of Rainbow Lorikeets feasting on Sheoak (Casuarina) seeds.
Unusually they didn't take flight when approached.  I guess their greed overcame their wariness.

Totally unexpected, specially on a Sunday, while heading down the A1(M) in Yorkshire, a couple of Typhoons, the jet ones, blasted overhead at GREAT speed, turned vertical and vanished upwards into the clouds!

As I wasn't all that far from Leeming I suppose they were on QRA and had to get out to check something heading in-bound, but it was a tad noisy for a while as had my sunroof open!  :o
