Seen Over Your House Today

Earlier to-day this guy came over the house going quite slow at about 500'.
I was able subsequently able to identify him as G-LNDR, an Equriel operated by PDG helicopters on behalf of Network Rail.
It is equipped with specialist gear for carrying out survey work on the railway network.
The main N-S West Coast railway line runs just 100yds from our house, but thankfully is in quite a deep cutting so we are hardly ever aware of the sound of trains.

I think that's the one that followed the train to Fort William that Mrs_PR19 and I took in 2012. The turrets and things on the bottom of it are pretty much identical.

A Typhoon was playing in the sky above my workplace yesterday.  It was a bit unusual, I've seen them turning around each other in pairs before, but this time it was hunting a small twin aircraft, I think it was a King Air.

A lot of people were wondering if it was some kind of intercept, I thought it was more likely to be a training exercise against a slow mover.  The Tiffie seemed to be coping quite well with the low speed.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

National Grid have something similar for checking on power lines.   It was round here last year VERY low (50 feet) red, with ELECTRICITY emblazoned on the side.

As Madame is an associate member of the Anglican Guild of Vergers, we  went off today to St Mary's Fairford to look at a complete set of medieval stained glass windows on a Vergers outing.  Fascinating.  I'd assumed that since it's the Fairford Air Tattoo next weekend, I assumed that I might see some interesting things in the area.  Nothing!!  Not one single flying machine !! Not even anything interesting on the ground and visible from the roads around the airfield.  The only thing I saw was a solitary glider above Birdlip Hill East of Gloucester, and it was too far away to be worth getting the camera out.     Curses!  Thwarted!!

That's odd, my 'internal source' at Fairford says all six F-35s were airborne today (3 more arrived recently) but not all at the same time.

I'll be there on Friday, it's less manic then and aligned more toward the airfan rather than the Joe and Jane Publics.

Heard a Herc fly over yesterday. At least I assume it were a Herc. The twin prop dash 8s all sound the same.

RAAF Pilatus PC-9 just flew over my house at a thousand feet or so.  Sounded, as per usual, like a chainsaw going all out as fast as it could (they use their propeller blades for throttles apparently).

I watched a little of an F-35 practice display on Periscope last night my time. It looked quite far away from the bloke filming, but boy was it noisy!!

Well, not "near" as such, more like about 30-40 km away, it's Pearce base, where all the primary training (hence the PC-9s which buzz around all the time) for the RAAF occurs.  They regularly fly out to Rotnest Island, just off shore from where I am, go around the island and then return.   Obviously a simple navigation exercise, I think.

Do the Singapore Air Force PC-21's still fly from Pearce too?

As far as I am aware, yes, they do but you don't see them very much near the coast.

Just had a Harvard/Texan/SNJ go over. It looked like he had just departed PIK and the light was wrong direction so all I got was a silhouette and that lovely growling sound.
Needles to say I was nowhere near the camera at the time.
