5pm this afternoon, just in from doing my National Trust volunteering, a Tornado  heading west at about 400 feet. Probably heading for the Mach Loop...........but only one......they usually travel in twos.

Perhaps there IS only one left in the UK? The rest are at Akrotiri............

So , just as a matter of interest and if it's not too daft a question....how many Tornados do the RAF have, and how many ARE in Cyprus?
Oh to be whiffing again :-(

Lunchtime today, regret that I got a good view of the local air ambulance helicopter G-HWAA

http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/G-HWAA.html

Madame R and I had just got back from Hereford cathedral. An elderly neighbour's back door was open and a friend of her sons had just arrived as she wasn't answering her phone. We found her in a heap at the foot of the stairs. Very rapid/efficient  999 response by paramedic, ambulance then air ambulance.  She's been flown to Bristol.   Fascinating though it was  to see  the Eurocopter so close, in the field beside the house, I'd rather not  have had the experience.

Oooooer, was that around lunchtime? I heard a fast low flying chopper o'head around 1245 or so today. Routing from Hereford to Bristol would go pretty close to me too.

Could well have been, Kit.     Latest bulletin is that elderly female  neighbour is "stable"  in Bristol, suspected hairline skull fracture and small bleed to brain.

Best wished to her anyway. No doubt she'd a fall, a very common problem with older citizens. My Mum has a wrist alarm for such occasions, and she uses it maybe once every two weeks these days.

Yup, my mum ( 90 next birthday) is getting one for herself.  "Now that I'm starting to get old....."  she said.   This leads to the philosophical question......When do we  become older citizens?  I don't feel old yet......in fact I feel reasonably young and active (63)......but then this bleary eyed old man stares out of the bathroom mirror at me every morning.
