Helicopter Tuesday! An hour ago, we were buzzed at treetop level by an Agusta A109 (Hkp 15, in Swedish terminology) and just now, a pair of Blackhawks (Hkp 16) thundered through the valley BELOW our house. Seems the Helicopter Wing at Linköping has gotten their monthly supply of gas this week..  ;D
Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition!

The Wooksta!

Something French with a Fenestron tail rotor buzzed about yesterday when I was half heartedly attacking the weeds in the garden.

Helicopter. Not a big one.
Cannot see exactly what it is but it is flying very slowly back and forth, getting a little closer each pass. It's been doing it for more than an hour. It must be looking for something or someone.

edit: turned out to be some sort of survey job with imaging, laser measurements, and such.
(not looking for missing kids, dangerous criminals, or bears)

Not much around here but the local crop duster. Bright yellow radial engine Agcat or something just like it. I was nice to hear that radial engine sound as he made passes over a field close by.

Its not the workbench that makes the model, it is the modeler at the workbench.

Ah, I see. I was only familiar with the German version, which has a non-telescoping shell. I've been inside this one: http://www.gasometer.de/

Certainly in London at least you get both types.
I did once work with a guy who had been worked for the British Gas and he did explain the difference though my recollection is somewhat dimmed with the passing of time.
There was talk of "wet" and "Dry" seals and pressures....

This one is near Battersea: http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/1701963 there is another over Chiswick way....

A military jet just flew over the house, I dashed outside but it was gone before I got there.  Sounded like a fighter type ---

Might have been a LIDAR survey.

its a good way to make a topo map of a large area, especially if its hard to get to.

Producing a Digital Terrain Model sounds about right.
It was covering a populated area with small lakes and some fairly steep hillsides in it.

Sitting on the covered back patio mid-day today reading the paper and the wife sez
"Hey, that sounds like round engines". :)
So up we get and go out into the yard to locate the source and there to the south was the B-25D
'Grumpy', accompanied by Spitfire Mk IXe SL633, in the pattern for Paine. They belong to the
Historic Flight Foundation at Paine Field, here in Everett/Mukilteo, Washington, and had been
over in the eastern part of the state at Felts Field in Spokane for the weekend.
'Twas a pleasant sight on a nice mostly sunny day.

Aside from that just the usual regular general aviation, bizjet, helicopter and Boeing factory traffic.

While driving across the north end of Salisbury Plain the other day Mrs_PR19 yelled 'Helicopter!' in my ear and pointed off to the right across my face.

I took a quick glance and there was an Apache about 5 FEET off the ground on the other side of a field to us and going in the opposite direction, but pretty slowly. In truth we were proabably going faster than he was but not so fast that I didn't have time to yank the mini-camera from my pocket and thrust it at Mrs_PR19. Results below, enlarged a LOT!

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)
