Old Wombat

Not quite over my house & not really identified but there was an Australian Customs turbo-prop flying out from Christmas Island this morning.

I could tell it was Customs by the Coast Guard type orange band forward on the fuselage & the orange tail (I think it was a T-tail).
However, it was a fair way off & I'm not familiar with many civil aircraft but it seemed to be moderately large & definitely twin-engined.

It was probably out looking for debris, bodies &, hopefully, survivors from an asylum seeker boat that went down early yesterday or late the previous day.

Also, saw HMAS Warramunga off-loading some asylum seekers at the same time. No idea if they were from the sunk boat. Might find out when I go back to work tomorrow.

:cheers:

The Portland coastie AW-whatever was clattering around over the town centre this afternoon, very low. There was a Daring-class destroyer parked in the bay yesterday as well, though I couldn't tell which one.

Wasn't a trifle late, about 67 years too late?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

It must float plane day in Seattle. Up here for my daughters graduation from U of Washington. DH Otter or Beavers buzzing around. Of course the camera is unavailable. I'll be looking for photo ops after the commencement.

Meanwhile up here in Everett:
Saturday at midday the Collins Foundation two-seat P-51C flew over;
this a morning a Volga Dnepr An-124 flew over in the pattern for Paine Field.
The sound was what clued me in that something different from the usual Boeing
factory traffic was overhead.

Must have been the Turbo Otter. One was yellow and white as per the Kenmore Air and the other was a dark blue or purple and white Turbo Otter.
I'll see if I can talk the wife into visiting the Boeing museum tomorrow.

Wonder if the two Air Force Hueys cruising over town at 1500ish had anything to do with the France Vs All Blacks match that's happening here this evening ???, Hmmmm  :-\
