I was out in the back yard today and looked up to see the airplane flying over and was blessed to see three biplanes in a triangle formation flying east. I could see the nearest one had the blue fuselage and yellow wings paint scheme. Just beautiful. Must have been on the way home from an airshow. I couldn't tell for sure but I suspect they were Stearmans.

An honest to goodness Zeppelin! Pathfinder 1 out for some exercise.  Moving slowly, and the electric props were noisier than I expected.  It did seem to land quickly and without a large ground crew, which is a huge improvement over Zeppelins of yore, and even modern blimps.

The link 404s, but I looked a pic of it up anyway.

I'm MOST impressed and I'm really envious that you saw it, being an airship nut myself.

I've only ever seen the various Goodyear blimps that fly around Europe, and the small British airship 'Bournemouth', which flew directly over our house in Oxford when I was 14-15 or so.

So we've had a Merlin doing circuits round Southampton/Eastleigh Airport and the city today, according to Flightradar it went up to Winchester once or twice too during the circuits and had earlier been doing them around Hurn Airport. Not sure what that was about.

Even weirder, I noted an AN-124 Ruslan was apparently flying from Rome, seemingly to Dublin! No details other than plane type so no clue who or why it was doing that route!

You cannot view this attachment.

I snapped it earlier this year at nearby Leven airfield while taking a lesson in a Cessna, thought it was funky.

Next doors cat wasn't impressed though, she was in our garden and glared at it and flicked it's tail as it passed over. Cats eh?  ;D

This same machine went over today, the same Sunday a year ago.

This time it spooked a flock of Starlings, there's something the critters don't like about it!
