How nice that you wrote '...a Concorde' rather than 'Concorde' as many people do. It's as if they thought there was only one of them!  :o

That would have been G-BOAB, you saw, or 'Alpha Bravo' to the true Concorde fan.

just came down stairs this morning, and a pair of Belgian F-16AM's flew over the moment i opened my curtains  ;D

A pair of V-22s.  Much quieter than I would expect.

I was talking with a neighbour when we looked up and he said 'i thought they were aeroplanes but they sound like helicopters'.  I quickly explained he was right both times, he was fascinated as he didn't know anything about them.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

So on Wednesday while sitting at our usual place at the north end of the airport (YYC), I saw an overall grey large-ish military helicopter make an approach to the south end and then land on Apron 6. It was silhouetted against the horizon quite well as it landed and I saw it could only have been one of the RCAF's newest helicopters, the CH-148 Cyclone. Nothing else military comes close to it's profile except the bigger CH-53 the US has but it wasn't one of those and the RCAF's Cormorants are all painted yellow so it wasn't one of those either.  Then on Friday I saw it take off and head west over the mountains towards BC. I asked a colleague who had been down to that apron what it was and he said there wasn't a helicopter outside there, so it must have been put into a hanger. So looking at the Abbotsford Airshow list of static and flying aircraft it shows there will be a CH-148 in the static display next weekend.  So I'm kinda pleased I got to see it in Calgary flying.

These helicopters have only taken 18 years to get into service, and even then, they're pre-production ones. The RCAF has nine of them which will all have to be brought up to full service capability once the ""production"" ones arrive. Sikorsky had to deliver them this way otherwise they were going to get dinged with hefty late delivery fines ----

A big chunk of chopper, I see the civvy SAR version over here quite often. Glad it's finally happening for the RCAF, even though it's been a difficult gestation.

NARSES2

Normally all I get to see are high flying airliners and the police helicopter (far to frequently) or the air ambulance, but today on my way into Croydon on the train a Puma (at least I think it was) flew across at a relatively low altitude on it's way south to somewhere. Unusual for this part of the world.

Just wondering if they are used for Royal Flight duties ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Not for actually carrying Royal Personages, but they may carry some support staff, ones who often wear sandy coloured berets perhaps?

IIRC the Royal Flight choppers these days are AW109Es, very sleek looking devices with sideways folding undercarriages.

On Sunday evening it was pretty crowded around my area, but the traffic wasn't exactly in the 'fast jet' category!

It was the Bristol Balloon festival this weekend so there were scads of of them floating slowly up the Severn Estuary, but the only which was close enough for a pic was this one. Even so it was a distance off.

[I MUST get that long focus lens sorted!]

I saw a overall green C-130J-30 take-off from 35L at YYC today. I'm assuming it's RAF. Mind you it wasn't all one shade of green, it had a patchwork of different green shades in very large squares and rectangles. Looked most peculiar ---

BBMF Dakota, probably on it's way up to Whitby regatta.

These were flying around my house last Thursday, fire fighters that came to help out during last week's wildfires on our beautiful mountains... Don't know what they are, but i believe some of you know.
