Went  up to Cumbria last week to see to aged relatives.  Played truant one day and had a trip to Keswick.  Seen on the way there, an Osprey thrashing its way eastwards..........looks  totally unexpected with those huge props/rotors........a Hercules  low down and heading North-West, and then a couple of his friends following him(possibly heading to West Freugh)  and finally a pair of Typhoons at about 500 feet over Derwentwater.

Over the last couple of weeks, the Brit Army has been in a rotation in & out of Suffield. Seen lots of Voyagers and a RAF C-17 has come in a few times, yesterday as I just arrived at work watched one landing. They have an incredible short roll-out once on the ground, seems no sooner have the wheels touch concrete, then they're using the fast exits off the runway.

Also saw a number of CT-155's again (I think they get used for the troop training simulation fast jet attacks at Suffield).

Three CL-215's were parked over by the small WestJet hanger too.  Basler BT-67 has been busy (someone told me they are used for the fire jumpers)  And the usual BAE 146 flights everyday.

Just a couple of minutes ago, a Hercules trundled over my house low enough for me to be worried about the chimney pots.

Just been BBMF Dakota'd, last time it flew over was 2 years ago! Lots of army heli activity, 2 chinooks, merlin and a chinook, then a wildcat within half an hour.

Sorry but no photos, but we have just had 3 (maybe 4) Alphajets go over the house, in wide line astern joining down wind for Prestwick.
I will find out tomorrow who they were.

They were followed a couple of minutes later by a Dassault Falcon tri-jet, either a 7X or a 900.

C-130 off in the distance, leaving after having dropped SASR personnel on their annual qualification jumps in the waters between Fremantle and Rottnest Island.   Going at a fair clip, relatively low, towards Pearce RAAF base (for another load?).

Nipped out to the airport this morning to see if they were still there.
They were, all ten of them!
The Patroille de France returning from just over a month in N. America.

They was also their support aircraft, an A400/Atlas, which you can just see hiding behind this USAF KC-135

No sign of the Falcon, but I now know that it was a Falcon 50 of the French Air Force.

They should paint the Atlas up in the same scheme as the Alphas, like the Blue Angels do to their Herk.  ;D

I bet they all head off home today or early tomorrow, they've got an election to vote in.....
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Again, you people need to stop giving broke modellers expensive ideas! I love that!

Well, I have to remark, since the ISS was noted - the Eta Aquarid Meteor shower -  visible early this am, was a fair spectacle..

Didn't see it but i'm pretty sure I heard a barking owl earlier.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

One of these fine feathered raptors sits on my backyard clothes line fairly often..
Its a biggie too, sitting about as tall as my pet cat sits..

In fact the owl waits for the cat to finish his crepuscular rodent patrol, the cats's a damn good rodent ( & snake*)exterminator)
- the rodents are attracted to the neighbour's bird feeder, but if there's nothing doing, the cat will come inside, & then the owl tries for a furry meal too..

The Owl looks at the cat ( the cat is all white, & looks every bit of his trim 7kg), & the cat looks back,
but with the cat being so big, I doubt the owl would chance an attack, & the cat being white, does not bother with birds**

*I 'don't mind him 'discouraging' snakes, but when he wants to bring the venomous ones inside after beating them senseless, it causes a bit of fuss..
** The only bird he's caught & killed was a magpie crow that wouldn't stop dive bombing him..

Training here at Prestwick to-day was this Sukhoi Superjet 100, EI-FWB, of CityJet.
Most of the circuits they flew were rather on the wide side but a few broght it nicely over the house. If they could just have made it a little tighter I would then have had the sun at my back which would have made photography a lot easier.
They have been coming here for training for some months now but this was the first chance to get photos.
