The surgery , incidentally, has been such a success that the consultant nearly did a lap of honour round his office in triumph  "That's not just good, that's really fine" quoth he.

Brilliant
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Ahah, we saw quite a few Herculii y'day too. Perhaps they were having a rally somewhere?  ;D

Great news on the health front too.

Great news on the health front indeed. From personal experience I know how you will have felt when you got that verdict.

Now on the subject of the plural of Hercules, I do not know the answer, but here is a little story from my past professional life (Air traffic controller).

London information to *****.

"Traffic information for you is a formation of Wessexess.
Sorry traffic information is a formation of Wessie.
***** traffic information is a Wessex helicopter, and incidentally he has several of his mates with him!"

Over London on Friday was a rare visitor from the USA, an HH-60G presumably from the USAF 56th Rescue Squadron at Lakenheath. It had a huge refuelling probe and sounded that little bit different.
They were waving a Union Flag out of the side door and Wiki says they are due to leave the UK for Italy this year so it may have been a goodbye flight.

Compared to a Chinook the Puma is positively silent. One flew over this afternoon and I couldn't hear it. The crew had both doors open so for a moment I could see a square of sunlight in the middle of a flying machine!

Chinook flew overhead as I was walking out to my car after a doctor's appointment mid-day today.

Mosquitos.  But not the fun kind with merlin engines.
About 1/2 a dozen bites on my right arm alone.  Its a sign that it's now time to shut the shed doors when dusk arrives as the little bloodsuckers are attracted in by the lights.

Only if you fill in the correct forms, in triplicate, provide them with the necessary medical care, post-operative care and either prostheses or wheelchairs/crutches to enable them to carry on fruitful, productive lives...   Oh, and you have to invite us all 'round for a great nosh-up.  I just love Frogs Legs!  ;)

Difficult to see, but a pair of Chinooks!  We don't see them all too often around here any more... just Blackhawks, so I thought it was neat. I was at work (the trash picking up contract that I landed! ) when I saw these in the morning time.

I saw one either the same day or the day before or whatever on the way TO work fly overhead with the rear door open. I don't know what they're doing but lots has been going on lately on the artillery base. This morning, in fact, they were shooting something BIG. I mean BIG...  the sounds this thing made were just awesome.

But anyway..

Just watched the ISS fly over! Awesome! Nice and bright until it approached the earth's shadow when it turned red and then disappeared. I've been trying to see it and tonight the schedule and lack of cloud cover finally cooperated.

For something that orbits the earth almost 16 times a day, I have a hard time getting to see it.  Seen the Shuttle one time though ---

It was still visible up there in the lightening Eastern sky this morning on my way to work a 0550.
