Cool. I have my eyes out for anything flying over today. The CNE airshow ends and sometimes we have to occasional fighter or warbird transiting.

RAF Hercules, very low over my town.  It was the one with the 50th Anniversary of the Hercules in RAF service tail livery.  Caused a bit of consternation with my neighbours, we live in a training area so they can come down to 250ft, but they normally skirt the town and don't come straight over.

This one, pic from the Lockheed Martin site:

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

I spot an impostor.

That was taken at Fairford this year, it was a special Lockheed show I think, what with that lot and F-35s all over the place!

Cool. I just love that colour on the Herc. Looks like 4 different shades ( at least ! )

A lone, solo, PA-28 droned overhead this afternoon, going on its own way some place to the south.

Otherwise not a single air movement in sight.

Yaaaawwwwwn.....

To add to the Herc from yesterday, two Chinooks came over this evening.  Couldn't mistake the sound.  I rarely see heavies here so I guess there's an exercise going on.

Yeah, seems to be a thing with RAF kit at the moment, a lot of the fleet is getting on and service in Afghanistan created quite a patchwork, sometimes with completely different shades being used for the replacement panels.

I'm not sure if that is the case actually.

All the really old -Ks have been retired now and all 4 squadrons fly the newer -J versions, and the green ones seem to be painted in some sort of regular scheme. That darker green panel over the lower half of the rear fuselage by the ramp seems to be almost standard for instance.

Nick

Flying around the flowers in my garden was a strange looking beastie...

Too big to be a wasp or bee but had black and yellow stripes on its back. Too small to be a bird, maybe the size of the first knuckle of my thumb.
Not landing on the plants but hovering.
Drinking from the flowers with a straw as long as itself.

I have deduced it was in fact a Hummingbird Hawk Moth! As is typical it flew off before I could get the camera out.  ;D

Captain Canada

Cool ! Reminds me that I forgot to post this beastie. Looked like a flying earwig mated with a wasp ! Scary. I had to wait for it to get off my bike so I could ride away from the scene lol

Lightning!

As in the weather phenomenon, sometime between 10pm and 1am. Less than a mile away and the thunder was loud enough to wake me - the deepest of deep sleepers.

Oooooh! Chemtrails!
Maybe they were covertly spraying to kill off the alien earwig wasps.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
