Supertom

I'm posting here so I have to commit to finishing it (otherwise you may tar and feather me).  No pics yet as I'm in the office, but I've pulled what I need out of storage.  I'll post a pic or two when I get home.

I forgot, here's a partial scan of my Cutting Edge OV-10 sheet.  Some of the Broncos have a sharks mouth on it, and they are a part of the 16th Attack Squadron, 15th Strike Wing

Hey guys,

Nothing started yet (having dinner right now) but the model with come primarily from these two boxes....

The kit's a little basic but the shape's all there, and I'll be modifying it a little here and there.

As for the markings - well, I'm doing a little research - I'm trying to make it look menacing.

I forget - is napalm banned by some convention or something?

I think so, SuperTom, But it seems nobody cares, besides, it is outmoded. Now the trend is Thermobarics.

Aha!  The wonders of the internet.  For your reference guys:

QuoteInternational law does not necessarily prohibit the use of napalm or other incendiaries against military targets,[4] but use against civilian populations was banned by the United Nations' inhumane weapons convention (often referred to as the CCW) in 1981

I was shadowing a JAG before and he was telling me about how the Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC) is by far the most interesting thing that JAGs study.  So, I asked him about Napalm.  He said that it's not illegal, but it's one of those weapons that the US does not like to use.

btw, future reference it's Philippines and Filipino or Filipina (for describing women) ;)

Back to the plastic...

So far, I've put the fuselage and engine pods together.  Fit is okay, but the engineering isn't.  There are uneven gaps (for example, a gap on the left engine pod to fuselage join is much larger than the one on the right) and as you can see, lots of putty.  The right nose profile had to be rebuilt with putty.  There's no cockpit to speak of, but test fitting of the kit's "cockpit" shows it can be done after assembly so I'm going to proceed with the rest of the kit while I figure out how to get about this (I'll probably get a Extratech PE cockpit fret for the Su-22UM, it's only like $3.

The aforementioned engine pods, one completed, the other awaiting putty.  As you can see, lots of work!  Good thing I added a lot of weight.
