QuoteWhy do I have this feeling that you'll be done by midnight tonight...

Nah, the only reason I got so much done was because I called in sick today.  Wings just came on, by the way.

QuoteBack to the plastic...

So far, I've put the fuselage and engine pods together.  Fit is okay, but the engineering isn't.  There are uneven gaps (for example, a gap on the left engine pod to fuselage join is much larger than the one on the right) and as you can see, lots of putty.  The right nose profile had to be rebuilt with putty.  There's no cockpit to speak of, but test fitting of the kit's "cockpit" shows it can be done after assembly so I'm going to proceed with the rest of the kit while I figure out how to get about this (I'll probably get a Extratech PE cockpit fret for the Su-22UM, it's only like $3.

Just had a classic "kids say the funniest things" moment.  My 2 year old is sat on my lap so I can read him Mr Happy, and he sees the monitor.

Looking good, Supertom! I was thinking along Baz's line there and figured you'd be pulling of an Anthony and have it done by lunchtime!

I am definitely looking forward to the next update!

Hey, does anyone have any ideas for materials I can use to scratchbuild a cockpit?  I need a material I can get cheaply and easily in stores, yet easy to bend and stuff.

Tom, if you can't get styrene sheets easy, head to your local hardware store and look at the for sale signs (like yardsale signs or the signs people put in the window when they are selling thier car) sometimes these are a good cheap source of styrene. I have seen them made out of different materials but maybe you'll get lucky :)
