QuoteCount me in, I'll definitely be attending.

Hmmmm....

I'm thinking along the lines of doing a Harrier GR 5 in RAF colours. What's that...

Not very whif you say....

Ah, I'm thinking the real GR 5  ;) - AKA the "Big-Wing" Harrier that BAe pitched to the RAF after the AV-16 programme collapsed.  :)

Me thinks Sea Harrier fuselage and modified AV-8B wing should do nicely!

Failing that I'll be boring and just do a paint job on a standard Harrier!  :(

O.K.
Hate to tell u this.... Ive already done that one. mines in 4 squadron markings, so try not to do the same squadron lol
Yours is the AV-16 Martin  :dum: , Duncans talking of Tin Wing !!!!

Via Chris 707's VTOL projects book.

my first model for the display (one of at least 3 planned)

Italeri F-104 A with the wing pods modded from 4 drop tanks off the matchbox F-16 kit.
I always hope for the best.
Unfortunately,
experience has taught me to expect the worst.

Marine corps Airborne assualt 1930's style.  who needs a V-22 when u have a Ford-Blanick JV-6V marine assult transport. (based on a patent in the US patent office)

This is the love child of An Airfix Ford Trimoter and a Revell Junkers J13 (nose prop, landing gear and stubwing) The wing props came off a Novo Vickers Vimey

All hail the God of Frustration!!!

Martin thats tremendous stuff - you really do need a copy of the patent picture to display alongside it

Chris
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Ian the Kiwi Herder

Martin - do you want me to re-post the pics of my JASDF Sea Harrier into this thread ???

Many years ago I read an article about a US Army programme called STAMP ( Small Tactical Aerial Mobility Platform ). One of the vehicles developed used the fuselage from an OH-6 ( Hughes 500 ) but used vectored thrust from a jet engine for lift.

Can't find any reference to it now, though there's loads of info on the other things tested in the programme ( jet packs, Williams WASP platform etc. )

Looks like a Fairey something or other
Is that for real - it can't be, can it.   Looks like a Fairey FD2 with VTOL and bigger girth but XS341 was allocated to a Shelduck!!!!  Come on - what's the story?

Ok - a friend helped me track it down.  It's a powered mock up from the early 1960s ITV show 'The Plane Makers'.  A Scott Furlong Predator, no less!  Pretty neat design!

Nick

Go for it!!

Be aware I've done a Yak-38 in white/brown winter camo and Argentine markings for the Falklands GB. That Hobbycraft kit is dead simple to do.

I might enter it for this GB or go ahead with my plans for a different Kestrel or Harrier....
