Here's a pic of ship mounted lifeboat pods.  They're designed to open when jetisoned, air dropped versions are similar.  You could easily adapt a droptank.  I think sometime theyre not mounted externally but simply pushed out of doors/hatches etc.



The Nimrods search light is mounted on a fueltank, but you could quite easily mount one seperately.  The Nimrods takes a heck of a lot of power, I'm not sure if it'd be mounted externally, but again, why not?

CCG Red and white would look really nice on this bird!  Or low vis greys  

I've just received my two decal sheets from CanMilAir of the DHC-8 in CCG red scheme.  The red looks really smart and I'm doing my DHC-8 Floatplane this way.

For the red the instructions say use ModelMaster Guards Red over a white undercoat which gives it the right hue.
