Seen some great ideas and models of fixed wing aircraft here but what about those rotary whiffs?
Got to be something floating around.

How about an Apache in Polish markings, maybe in their camo like this one.

What others choppers in what other markings?

A couple I'm still setting material back for are a HH-53E "Ultra Jolly" ;) and a VH-53E, now that more gear needs to be lugged around for command and control purposes.

CH53 Gunship. I've got the CH53 in the stash, all I need are some decent weapons for it.

Philip..NO. the Crapache is old, get's more maintenance than flight time and it is way to expensive. You'd be better with the AH1Z Super Cobra. Or some of the non US gunships that are out there.

Lancer, is that gunship derived from the CH-53C or Ch-53E?  IMHO, the most practical cockpit, which would let you use most of the existing fuselage et al. would be similar to that of the Hind-A.

I've got an Italeri Mangusta in the stash, that I'd like to build as a US Army machine.

I'm working on a Comanche, 48th, but I have no decals for it.

I got a few helos in the stash, and no idea what I'm going to do with any of them:

-Italeri 1/72 Ka-29 (x2)
-Testors 1/72 RAH-66
-Airfix 1/72 AH-64D
-Italeri 1/72 AH-64
-Amodel (I think) 1/72 AB212 (x2)
-Revell 1/72 HH-65 (x2)

I was thinking about picking up another PAH-2 Tiger, and that Mil at the top of this thread gives me a paint scheme and user for it.

Agree with you on the cockpit bit Evan, I'l have to see if I can lay my hands on the old airfix kit as that had bot A & D versions to it. The kit is the Italeri MH53E that  I picked up durin gthe summer.

I may have to do the same, you've got me intriqued now.   Still, I've got those other options that I've got laid down.

 I have an extra Monogram 1/32 Blue Thunder helo from the '80s that I'm changing out the sensors for stub wings & weapons & doing it OD with Army markings as an early LHX contender.

Funny you should ask. On my bench right now I have:

1/72 Kopro Mi-17 being done as a Canadian SAR bird. I've cribbed a bunch of bits from an Italeri Hind F for this including the rotor head, tail rotor, engines and such. Made a new hoist as well. 65% done, awaiting paint;

1/32 Italeri Bo-105 being done as an alternative to the Kiowa Warrior. Big changes on this one -- new landing skids to replicate the "kneeling" gear that some OH-58's are now equipped with (to facilitate transport aboard Hercs), new engine cowl profile to indicate PT6 Twin Pac engines and exhaust diffusers, "narrow X" tail rotor, and revised weapons pylons for a big ol' cannon (modified from a Dragon ZSU-23-4 kit) and Stinger missiles, and possibly a mast-mounted sight although I'll have to think about that. 50% done (interior, fuselage, tail rotor). The MMS will have to come from...

1/35 Academy Kiowa Warrior "Black Death". Been thinking about making this (when it arrives in the mail next week) into a Canadian attack helo by deleting the MMS, relocating a sight to the cabin roof and adding more weapons (kind of along the lines of an AH-6/MD-500 Defender)

1/48 ESCI Bo-105C Canadian Coast Guard. This really falls into the WhIf category because all our Bo-105's are the stretched -CBS variants. 50% done (interior complete);

1/72 USCG HH-60J(Plus) ADCAP Jayhawk from the Italeri HH-60H kit. The original kit had no interior details so I'm having to scratchbuild all of them from the flight mech and rescue swimmers' seats to the radio rack, sling seats, Stokes litter and rescue basket. On the way I'm adding a permanent FLIR turret, a reshaped nose radar, and the diffuser engine exhausts indicating uprated engines (either T700-GE-701's or RTM322's). 40% done (most of the interior, rotor, tail rotor)

On the non WhIf side I'm also converting the Hobbycrap CH-113 Labrador into a CH-113A Voyager conversion (70% done), a Trumpeter HH-65 Dolphin from CGAS Detroit (haven't started yet -- this one'll be stock if I can resist fooling with it) and a Sea King in RCN HMCS Bonaventure markings. (Airfix/MPC piece of crap kit, haven't started yet but I have the Belcher Bits decals) and a USCG Pelican from the Airfix Jolly Green kit.

Been on a bit of a helo kick lately...  :dum:
