Here are a couple of pictures of my first attempts at an A-10 zwilling.  The 72 scale one was done strictly as a proof of concept and was done in one day with the old crappy Monogram kits.  Someone in the A-10 Marine thread was wondering if they should go with 2 or 3 tails.  I like the 3 tail version.  If I ever get this sucker finished, I'll post pictures.

That looks like a very interesting, but very difficult conversion.  What 1/48 kit are you using as a base?
Man, we should have cloned twenties. Jackson wouldn't have given a poo-poo.

I had e-mailed the link to this great idea to Tophe and he replied with the following to me, asking that I post it here:

I cannot go to this new topic (of which I have been informed - as all from the workbench and twin-tail forums) because any http: address does not work for me anymore (since 3 days now). The computer will go to the 'doctor' next afternoon, to be formatted all again I fear... Please post a reply for me saying "Tophe told (us via me) he has no contempt at all against this Twin A-10, he would have been glad to come, appreciate and clap hands, checking the invention-differences with Aircavpinkteam's April 2003 project of Double A-10, he is just kept away by a successful virus attack, for at least a few days (only E-mail was working, no more Internet Explorer). :-( "

I found a couple of "Kitech" 1/48 A-10's at a toy discounter for a couple of bucks each.  I figured, how bad can they be??  They are horrible!  I was originally planning on putting a cockpit on one side and just paint over the canopy on the other side.  The canopies don't fit!  Drone it is!  The worst part of the conversion will be the fit of the crappy kit.  The hacking has actually been the easy part.  I let the tail dictate the rest of the cutting.  I got the tail together and then taped the fuselages to it so I could get the measurements for the center wing - darned if I didn't get it close!  This isn't up to Eddie's standards, but I'm happy with it.

I was hoping to get this done for Tophes twin tail tribute, but alas, the glacial pace I build at has slowed even further.  Maybe this winter.......

Im the culprit.  What I was planning to do was mate a two seat OA 10 with a regular A 10 to have an observer and weapons/electronics officer.  Cockpit in second fusalage replaced with sensors and electronics.  Decided against a second GAU 8A--one is enough.  Havent decided if it should simply carry more GAU 8a or actually mount a tank gun a 105 or 120 alla the Henschel 129.

someone extended the middle tail.  not being an aeronautical engeneer, I do not know if he anticpated stability problems.

Would anticpate her to be a flight leader or other long range special operations aircraft.

See intro, havent played this game but found it while I was looking for "A-10 in fiction" trying to locate the a book whose dustjacket I read once featured a USAF General, dating a female POTUS, whose personal mount was an A-10.  Still havent found the book.

There are a number of novels by that particular author, last name is Herman, with that particular officer in an A-10.  There's another, related novel, that has a two-seat lIghtning playign a major role.

I'm sorry I don't remember the exact titles offhand.  I do remember seeing illos fo the British versions of the books and thinking they got a better artist than the US versions.

It would probably have to fold unless they can manage a flat takeoff and landing!  I don't let reality bother me....it makes my brain hurt ;)

Oh I like the way you think!!  I've got a 1/48 scale crappy tank somewhere that would love to donate the main gun to the twin 10.  Now the only question is, do I put it in the nose or hang it in a pod under the center wing section?  Do I include the turret??  Nahh that might be too weird even for me.  Maybe just a podded gun - when it is empty you can drop it on someone!

Nose, Too big to hang from pod.  It might be possibe as there should be no cockpit in the second fusalage.  A 120 Rheinmetal Borstig, mount and mag, would be too $$$ to use as a non explosive bomb.

BTW any comments on the extended middle tail?

Ollie

Check the post juuuuuuuuuuuust above yours buddy.
