Playing then devils advocate, I can't see the advantage of a Concorde tanker as unless my understanding of aerodynamics is wrong you couldn't refuel at supersonic due to the reciever aircraft being badly affected by the shockwave.

Fast transport or recon/ELINT yes, but maritime patrol or tanker would seem to be difficult.

Cheers

Tony

Captain Canada

Transit speed !

You can always slow down to refuel, eh ? The donkey end is just begging for a hose and drogue, as well as a MAD boom ! And besides, Concordes are just too cool to be left as is !

Yes, everything depends on transit speed.

Got a hot spot in the North?  Dispatch F-4s with a tanker Concorde and they'll get there cruising at Mach 1.5 most of the way...

Need to send troops half-way across the world?  Concorde will get them fast and easy.

Mines will not be tankers, but transports with a retractable probe for IFR from our CC-135Fs...

Captain Canada

My probe was gonna be fixed, as in fixed on the fixed nose. Where were you thinking of putting the retract ?

The biggest difference between your alt. RCAF and mine, is that I'm not using any US built stuff. After the mad cow cluster feck and softwood lumber etc, we said 'sod it' and bought our next gen. a/c from overseas.

Yeah, but the Yanks have some good stuff that can be made even better when Canadair puts in its grain of salt my friend.

And where else will you find something as nice as a V-22, eh?

As for the probe, I don't know yet, I'm waiting to get the kit to decide.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Captain Canada

I'd say it's more of a mauve.....and I can see the nose art 'tinky winky'

Next step, after the mysterious disappearance of fisher-boats: they go two by two, then... as there is room enough in the Concorde belly: twin-boom... :D  double mystery. That is why I came here for investigation, as twin-boom specialist, meaning Mach 2 and bomb couples, and Zwilling Concordes... :)
