BlackOps

Well I was looking at a Tornado I had built 3/4 of about ten years ago and started thinking about some things so here is a quick pic to show you what I'm thinking.

Don't know if I can pull it off but I think I'm going to give it a go! You know I never would have even considered something like this before joining this group...see what you've started!

Now this thing is going to need a better name than Tornado Plus...any suggestions?

Thanks! What a reward to know that we are somehow the parents of this new bird, freeing your genius mind :)
For a name, maybe Canard Tornado could be Coronado, that sounds Spanish as well, or Tri-surface Tornado could be Tronado...

Got this from dictionary.com's thesaurus:

Synonyms:     August gale, big blow, black blizzard, blast, blizzard, blow, cloudburst, coming down, cyclone, disturbance, downpour, drift storm, gale, goose winter, gully washer, gust, heavy dew, heavy wet, hurricane, monsoon, nor'wester, precip, robin storm, sheep storm, smelt storm, snowstorm, squall, tempest, tornado, twister, whirlwind, whiteout, windstorm

I'm partial to "Smelt Storm" or "Sheep Storm"

Looks good, Blackops!  What nation is it destined for?  Reason I ask is some nations fit the "Smelt Storm" monicker more than the "Sheep Storm," and vice versa.

Windstorm sounds good, however Monsoon sounds like a name the British would name such an aircraft.

You also so know that when you call it "sheep storm", somehow and somewhere in the world, someone is getting horny over that thought (not me, I see sheep and think "roasted rack of lamb!").

Well working on the assumption that the RAF are re-using the "storm" names - Tornado and Typhoon were used for previous Hawker types why not simply re-use Tempest ?

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

how about "Tempest II"  B)

Add one more vote for Tempest. I really like your idea, BlackOps.

Gotta be one of the best looking Tornado's I've seen Blackops, me likeee very much. I'm also voting for Tempes...so there :D  :D

Tempest sounds good but what about Hurricane II ?

I almost think the canards might be a bit to bit.  I hope you dont take this as criticism of your design though, because that is the most vicous looking Tornado-variant I've EVER seen.  The tail is absolutely stunning with the twin tails and what I imagine are maybe conformal fuel tanks.

Beautiful design!
So I got that going for me...which is nice....

i'm gonna have to agree with 'driver on the canards, i think they might be a little oversized, maybe you could scratch some out of card, but i love the tail and the tanks.

If it weren't for the fact that I don't know if they would affect the airflow, I'd suggest putting the cunards, or at least a much reduced version on the forward fuselage similar to the Typhoon.

Perhaps it's just that the present cunards are a tad large. I'm not totally opposed to them. Especially with the new overall layout. Very cool.
Getting back into modeling

BlackOps

I like Typoon II for a name although Smelt Storm was a close runner up

The Canards will get trimmed down a bit, they are the tail fins from a 1/144 scale F-15 I had in a box from days gone past. I pretty much just taped them there for position. I had them in front of the intakes (looked better there) but thought it would disrupt the airflow to the engines. The twin tails are actually the back wings from the Tornado and the new back wings are part of an old 1/48 scale fury.

Now I wonder if I still have to Tornado instructions so I can figure out if I have all the landing gear parts.

Very cool design! B) I can't speak for anyone else, but I always take into consideration that my design usually changes somewhat during construction. They never look like they started out in my mind. I suggest talking to your model to see what it wants to be, but don't do it in front of other people because the model will absolutely not answer with anyone around. ;)

P.S. Cyclone is my name contribution. ^_^
