To do my member title honor, here's my latest build. the kit is the Heller 1/72 Viggen. Nice little kit that can be build into 3 versions. Recce, strikefighter or double seat trainer.
the story:
By the end of the 1960's the Belgian Air Force was looking for a replacement of their aging F 84's Thunderstreaks and RF 84F Thunderflashes of the 2nd wing. One option would be the Mirage V, the export version of the Mirage III without radar and reduced electronic equipment. The other option would be the Saab 37 Viggen. After long discussion, the Belgian government decided to go for the Viggen and placed an order for 40 AJ 37 Strike variants and 20 SF 37 Recce Viggens. The first deliveries began in 1972 and by the end of 1974 all Sqn's had received their new aircraft..
The Recce Viggens went to 42nd Sqn Mephisto that was now the only photoreconnaissance unit in the Belgian Air Force.

BEAUTIFUL Patrick, those Viggerns look awsome in Belgian colours. Much better than those silly little lawn darts.

Great work Patrick, you got me wondering what one would look like in RAF colours now

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Ollie

Whoa, very good job, eh!

Looks awesome!

I was going to do a hypothetical Viggen some years back but I got very indecisive about the markings and eventually lost intrest.

Belgium didn't cross my mind, but it certainly looks good.

I was thinking about doing mine up as South African with that really nice clean edged tan and green cammo that they put on their Sabres and Mirage F.1s and kept so immaculate.

But then I was also considering Venezuela, New Zealand, Argentina and Greek possibilities as well, even briefly toyed around with a Canadian paint job.

Anyway, as I said, I never could commit to anything final with it. Glad you did better with yours.
