I did a 1/144 scale model a little while ago, I can't remember exactly which one, and it had separate arms for the cockpit seats! They were so small I had a job even SEEING them on the sprue!

Needless to say they didn't get fitted..............
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Intentionaly one assumes  ?  There was another manufacturer who came out with a Pe-8 many, many years ago. I can remember seeing it in numerace adverts. A Model I think.

Heh, yes.     Each crew seat sits on two U shaped supports.
So far the fit of this is beautiful.  I think that wouldn't have been the case with the A Model kit.

As this is the Shvetstov radial engined version why does it still have the radiators under the inner nacelles?

I'm putting in all the interior gubbins in the nose and under the cockpit as there is a chance it will be visible through the canopies.  Anything aft of the wing spars is for the parts boxes though as there are only tiny little windows to peer through.

Aren't they also the main landing gear fairings?

According to Scalemates, the AModel and Zvezda Pe-8s are different. The parts breakdown is clearly different. I "love" Amodel kits, but if experience is a guide, you would have run across a critical assembly that would have taken a day of benchwork and some scratchbuilding just to get right.

Looks like they have different engines. The Zvezda one has in-line engines, while the Amodel has radials.

Necessary ? No, but a high parts count adds to your "build enjoyment" ;D

Yes, but they should be shorter as they don't have radiators in the front of them.

Annoyingly I appear to have misplaced two 1/72 scale machine guns and their accompanying ammo belts.
I test fitted the guns into the nacelle gun positions, painted the guns, cleaned up one belt and made a replacement for the other.  I then put them in a safe place.
I'm sure I'll find out where that was just after I finish this build.   :-\

Kit's 2nd law will be applied.

More interior painting today.  Plus some figure painting - this has a full crew of Red Army Airmen bundled up in flying suits.  Nicely made.  Most of them have separately moulded arms and heads.

I also began assembling the weapons.  Model Collect's fit is not as good as Zvezda's.

I'm still working on the interior and crew.

I'm starting to become suspicious.

Another missing part.  This time the Navigator/Co-Pilots seat (in tandem with the pilot).  There are spare crew seats to which i can add armour and legs but that's not the point.
I think the spiders are either trying to prevent this being built, or are building something of their own...

This build is crawling along at the speed of light through a strong magical field (© Sir Terry).
Today I finally got to glue some of the interior into one of the fuselage halves.  The process being slowed by the need to dry fit, mark up where the parts meet, and then scrape off paint.
It's possibly a little over detailed.  Beermonster would maybe have consigned most of the inside parts to the bin but it's not as bad as the Airfix Shack.  About right for me maybe.  If i peer in through the windows (still fairly clear and unblemished by either paint or glue at this stage!) I can see different colours and vague shapes which are the IP transfers.
There is a spare figure.  I am tempted to paint him up and have him somewhere inside peering out of a window.

Some people would add seatbelts to the seats.  But the PDRV's precision strike force were trained by Starfleet and eschew such restraints.

Like the interior colour

So, what crew members seat on the other seats ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
