Are bunyips not covered by animal protection laws?   I only ask because  the "Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981" in the UK  has definitions sufficiently  widely drawn so as to include ANY native species.............legal opinion suggests that the Loch Ness monster would be protected if found to exist.

Similarly, I seem to recall reading an article some time ago about the USA, implying that transporting Bigfoot, Sasquatch or similar over state boundaries could be deemed a federal offence.

That brings back fond memories of Jilly's rock club in Manchester, who's carpets definitely met the geophysical criteria for a swamp, and quite possibly the biological ones too. Sadly long gone, although a sample of the carpet was donated To Science by the former owner. Science took a long, hard look at it and sent it to the Science Museum in London, who initially put it on display, with suitable health and age-appropriateness warnings. However after that unfortunate incident with the missing security guard from the night shift, it was placed under lock and key and, according to a recent FOI request, now resides safely (presumably) at the Chemical & Biological Defence Establishment at MoD Porton Down, where nobody would ever do anything bad with it, of course...

The insect ones usually swear & shout (incorrectly) "It's the Pigs!" as they scatter for cover.
