The year is 1947.

Operation Highjump.

Amid the fleet of ships and roaring aircraft, one secret giant stands apart: the Amphibious Mobile Base USS Elsworth (AMB-1). At sea it looks like a strange new carrier—until it climbs onto the ice. Driven by sixteen diesel engines and massive hull-mounted tracks, this 186-meter behemoth becomes the largest land-moving machine ever built.
With 25 knots on water, 10 km/h on ice, and a full suite of helicopters, snow tractors, and landing craft, the AMB-1 is the ultimate support platform for the most ambitious polar mission of its time.

This model will be build form what I can find the the big spare part box. And some 3D printed components.

To start with, lets take some remains of a Revell USS Intrepid model:

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.  Revelling in numptytism.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed, badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry.

I'll have that song in my head all day now  ;D

Apparently she's back on tour ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Good song and good idea. Another one that will be fun to watch!

As the original model parts are too long, the hull has to be shortend. So cut it and remove the middle part. Much shorter now.

Side or rear ramps for the snow cats?

The plan is to have a side ramp. But in such a project, the plan could change at any time. :)

A hull that is cut into pieces must be put together. With putty and a lot of sanding. So here we go, combining the two hull parts.

Also have to remove the parts molded to the hull where the original carrier had its props, but this also is WIP.

Just because you can, maybe throw in a tiny Antarctic Snow Cruiser.  Lousy design and never worked properly, but it's a WHIF:

If you could replace the poorly designed wheels with fat wheels with tread and bigger engines you might have something.

I will definity add my snowtracktors to it, have to see if they are printalbe in 1/700. Snow Cruiser would be nice, have to if I find a 3d model of it that is prinatble.

Being as it was electric drive, bigger engines wouldn't have made a difference.

Hull has been cut, sanded so it looks ok to continue new.

In parallel I am working in desinging some stuff for the 3D printer, but nothing ready to show so far.

Getting ready to take out the Fourth Reich! As long as you ignore the colonies on the Moon... I'm looking forward to the end result!
