Arm one with several 30mm cannon and name it the Westland Walloper.

Pegasus or Perseus would make the most sense for a radial-engined Whirlwind, in the time/weight limits.

Taurus is more likely being more powerful and of the exact same period as the Peregrine and the Whirlwind. While the Taurus II weighs 160lbs more than the Peregrine, it's a wash after you remove all of the liquid cooling stuff associated with Peregrine.

The F.9/37 with Taurus engines was larger than the Whirlwind yet the empty weight was only 518lbs greater.

Two Taurus II would give the Whirlwind 2,000+hp at take off compared to 1,530hp from two Peregrine.

The Beaufort and the Albacore used the
Taurus, a Beaufort kit could be the donor for a radial Whirlwind and in turn receive the Peregrine nacelles from the Whirlwind.

Uh-oh! Now I'm getting "ideas", & forming "plans" involving smacking one of my Beaufort kits into my Whirlwind kit!  :banghead:  :banghead:

Hey Hey, had the same plan....another is to have beaufighter wings-n-enginges involved.

As I've mentioned before, Dizzy has - IIRC he used Airfix Dinah nacelles, put a whacking great anti-tank cannon in the nose and tasked it for ground attack.

He may chime in with a link, otherwise it'll be on his Flickr feed somewhere.
I see he has done some Whirlwinds

Do one like that build from Dizzy but move the tailplanes down to fuselage and put it in Japanese markings. It'd probably cause a lot of confusion.
