Quote from: Mossie on November 17, 2025, 07:25:53 AMA modern stealth aircraft should be easy to achieve from that model.

Main problem would be burying the engines: pods and stealth go together well do not.

Scratching would be required, but not a lot of serious surgery.

Travelodge and Premier Inn are quoting me £500+ for 3 nights in a budget hotel.
My trip to Lisbon is only £440 with flights, parking, insurance and hotel with breakfast included.

I am looking around at other hotels which are offering much better rates even if it means paying a small fee for show parking.

Try Premier Inn Telford Central, Nick.

The Wooksta!

I've already booked the Mercure (same hotel as Martin, Thorvic and Gondor). I did it the Sunday night I got back and the shared room for me and Rob is just shy of 200 notes for the weekend.  Ok, the breakfast is another 16 notes a day, but I'll be bringing sarnies.  I'm no cheapskate, but that's expensive for a buffet - the last place I worked charged that for a breakfast and it was plated.

I noticed that when I made my booking, it included a two-course evening meal, so no divying up next year.

Don't know what the TIC charges for parking, but I always park in the multi-story across the road, which is only a few quid on the Saturday, £2 all day on the Sunday, always seems to have plenty of space and is only 5 minutes walk away.

I've reserved a room at the Mercure for 3 nights. Treated myself to the breakfast option  ;D

I have spotted that they charge £10 per day for parking which may influence my plans at a later date.

I know what you mean Nick. I looked at my usual Premier Inn, and then double checked I'd put the correct dates in  :o  Decided to stay with it though for various reasons, mainly I'd have to walk, taxi or bus in from elsewhere. May well be my final year at the Premier Inn though. Mind you their prices are going up  full stop. My usual stay in Sunderland has gone up around 30% in the last 6 months.

As for staying in Shrewsbury or similar ? Good idea, but you don't know if the trains are running, especially on the Sunday, until a few weeks before. And "Rail Replacement Bus Services" are the modern equivalent of the "Spanish Inquisition".  :-\

I have stayed in Shrewsbury before. As you know it is a nice town and it's not that far to drive in. But I would prefer to be close to the action in Telford  ;)

The Wooksta!

The Mercure is decent enough, Could have done with an extra pillow but I'm not paying £300+ for two nights (which one of our club did over the road at the Ramada) for a couple of extra pillows, a bath rather than a shower and a breakfast.

Odly I'd rather have a shower that the Premier Inn's bath

I find baths more relaxing.  A good wallow with a glass of rum is very relaxing.

I've stayed at the Mercure on both trips, no problem.

Have you considered an Airbnb? I stayed at a lovely home out at Ironbridge. Took the bus in, £3 each way. Plus, delicious pork pies opposite the Iron Bridge!
