What modelling projects do you think you'll never build or see?

Anyhow here's the Schwarz airship (if the link works).

Here's a model over on the Dirigible Modeler's Forum.

I'm thinking the pictures will usually show up the next day - annoying if you're both online at the same time and want to converse over the picture, but First World Problems and all that...

As has been said; "Remember, things could always be worse - there are people literally still living in Birmingham!"

With apologies to any Brummie members...

And now the pictures are showing up on the original post... :banghead:  :banghead:  :banghead:

Anyway, great pics Jon, and that aluminium airship is quite something. Are you familiar with the "lead balloon" that Mythbusters built?  :o

Is the Dirigible Modellers Forum a forum for dirigible modellers or a forum for modellers of dirigibles?  ;D

And there are people living in Liverpool who dream of living in Birmingham...

Takom do P & Q class Zeppelins in 1/350. Injection kits so you can use poly Cement.

You want metal airships?

The ZMC-2 is the only answer!  ;D

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

I call it Fractal Identitarianism:

In opposition to a Southern Jessie, I'm a Northern Monkey
In opposition to a Scouser, I'm a Manc
In opposition to a Manc, I'm a Stockie (or Stopfordian if I'm being posh)
In opposition to a Stockie, I'm an Offertonian
In opposition to an Offertonian from the new estates, I'm a proper Offertonian from the old village
And as for those bastards at the other end of our street...

It's tribes all the way down...    ;)

Known options, but too small to really "feel right" against 1/144 biplanes, plus the aforementioned Nightmare of Photoetch Hell that makes me in retrospect think not winning three straight tries on eBay was God protecting me from myself. I'm having enough small-parts fits with a little Carrier Task Force and two Japanese battleships as targets in 1/2000...

I 'd agree with you about the photo etch hell! ;D I was initially very tempted by both these kits until I saw the p/e parts. I hate photo etch parts with a passion. I'd rather have overscale polystyrene alternatives . Needless to say, I haven't bought either kit. My loss of course but, also my choice. Whenever I get a kit that has p/e parts included, as additions to or, replacements for the polystyrene originals,  the p/e parts head straight for the bin.

It's absolutely gorgeous, I have one in the stash and followed the whole build on BRITMODELLER

Appreciate the info  . However, I'm not inclined to pay more than the cost of the donor kit on a conversion. ;) My choice of course and, certainly my loss. Funny isn't it how some subjects like, for example, TSR.2 ( a failure which never entered production ,let alone service)  have more kits made than aircraft built. And yet, something like the Manchester which, although an operational failure was such a basically sound design (apart from the engines) that it morphed into Avro's finest (with over 7000 built) is ignored by manufacturers. Such is modelling life! ;)  ;D

Nobody ever made a movie about a Manchester squadron doing a daring raid against steep odds, and British avgeeks have literally never shut up about TSR.2 since 1965, though... :o

Having said that, it took it a considerable, organised campaign that went on for years, AND a shift in the centre-of-gravity of avgeekdom* that made cancelled projects more mainstream, to persuade Airfix to make any kits if the TSR.2. Before that, it was vac-form or resin garage kits.

*End of the Cold War, slowdown in new aircraft projects and SWOTL+BSP books, basically.

TSR2 was cancelled before it had a chance to disappoint.  It remains virgo intacta.

The Manchester doesn't interest me but i'd like a long nose Lincoln.  I WILL buy the Blackbird conversion set next time Red Roo have them in stock and I WILL buy an Airfix BII Lanc next time I see one at a not stupid price.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

I think I have an Airfix 1/72 radial engined B.II Lanc in the stash, which I bought by accident some time ago. I'll check the shed to make sure & let you know by PM.
