Got some time to build up the burner cans. I gotta say, this has got to be one of Eduard's worst sets. The flame holder bits don't quite fit, I had to modify how they mounted by gluing them to the insides of the burner cans. They do look nice, though.

A better look down the cans. The exposed brass piece are the "legs" for the flame holders. I'll need to paint them so they don't look so visible. The burner can lips will need to be cleaned up some but I'm not going to put too much effort into it.

Once the vertical fins were attached and shimmed, everything went quickly. Horizontal stabilizers were glued on, then I proceeded to attach various sensors, intake bulges and antennas to make it look cool. The inspiration is the Su-30MKM of the Royal Malaysian Air Force. I'll be adding an R2-D2-style GPS dome on the spine as soon as I can figure out how to build it up on the spine, and I'm contemplating adding MAW-300 laser sensors.

Primer is on for the bare metal bits. I'll set this aside for the next three days while I work on the landing gear and other subassemblies.

A suggestion for your R2-D2 GPS dome, plastic rod or tube with a plastic cap sanded to shape. Fitting would be done by drilling a hole to fit it into the spine. Obviously, you would need a longer piece than will be protruding from the spine to the length you desire. In fact, if long enough, you can glue the inside end to the inside of the bottom of the fuselage.

Ah, OK, I see it now. I thought there was an enclosure around it, but it's more of a dome with a big of a fin at the back. That does simplify things and your approach makes perfect sense.

I need to close up the canopy, so I went ahead and finished up the unpleasantries of sticking all those little details on the ejection seat. Looks nice with all the stuff on it, I'll paint it tomorrow.

After all the yrs i've been messing around with PE i've never heard of the vinegar treatment ,,,,i'm definitely going to give that a try as the AMMO treatment is $20 NZ a bottle and it dont travel very far at all ...great info there ,
