That's a shame - sometimes it's best just to put a kit away out of sight for a few months... or years. Kit, if you have any Acetone handy, try it on some of the Sword sprues. They may be using an ABS formulation that doesn't work well with normal styrene glues. Acetone will melt ABS handily and it evaporates quickly.

It's most unfortunate, but I'm relieved to hear that whilst the Sword kit is dead, the idea is merely sleeping and it will in due time re-awake.

75 % of it is already in the waste bin, there's no return for it!

I've sawn off and saved the U-125A specific parts, like the belly radome & engines and the Freightdog radar nose etc. as they may well fit a M'box Hawker 125-600 that I have in The Loft. Otherwise they'll go toward modding an Airfix Dominie.

That stinks! You have my sympathy. My curse is paint going crazy for no reason.

My sympathy Kit. Sometimes models just don't cooperate even after many tries to persuade them to work.

I had my hat already off for struggle you had with that Mikro Mir B-51 and the glued to working om the plastic. What glue did you use to put it together? What was the trick?

As said my sympathy Kit...

Maybe a Matchbox Hawker Siddeley Hs125/600 could work for your plans?

I usually use a mix of Revell Contacta, in the blue pot with the needle, and whatever liquid glue is to hand to re-energies it after an assembly. But I had to use lots of superglue for this one, and that's one I bought at the Coventry Show this year, and it's much better than any other I've tried. It's a semi-gel and cures in 10-15 secs, just enough to hold onto without getting the shakes. It's made by Javis Manufacturing Co. Ltd. in Stockport, and I'll definitely get some more of it if I can.

That's Javis, not Jarvis...............

Here is a =Kits&q=1%3A72%20Hawker%20Siddeley%20HS-125*&fkTYPENAME[]=%22Static%20model%20kits%22]LIST from Sclaemates that shows all the boxings of the base aircraft and all the companies that make them. Yes, it does include Sword, but that is only Three of the Twenty boxings.

Yes, I looked that up, but there's not to many that are actually available. And I have two of them already.

Ah, so superglue is the trick for assembling Mikro Mir kits.   For super glue I usually take the cheapest, liquid brand and zap it for fixation.
First need to finish current projects, than set to work on the B-51.

I would try that process too but the zapper stuff triggers my asthma, and that brings modelling to an abrupt halt! And everything else as well.  :(

Pity after so much effort, Kit, but sometimes you've just got to accept that the materials you're using aren't up to speed & look for something better.

Kit, have you heard the idea of using accelerator applied directly via a cotton bud (or allowed to run onto the glued area), rather than spraying it?
Or is it the fumes as such that cause a reaction? You probably already thought of it, but might a mask help?

Just a few stray thoughts.

It's always a shame when you make the decision to give up, rather than just park the kit for a while and come back, but some kits just drive you mad  :banghead:  :banghead:
