This will be for your general chit-chat

Can we post our 'pre-start' pics yet? I've got most of bits ready to go now.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage

Yes you can, Kit.  I suggest you use this thread to indicate your plan, and then start a build thread once the GB has begun.

Here's the primary bits of my One Week Build entry.

That's a Sword U-125A with one of Colin Freightdog's Armament trainer conversions for the HS125 Dominie added to it, plus a couple of Harpoons and maybe a couple of 'winders for self defence. That's assuming there'll be enough ground clearance under the wings for the 'poons that is!

It'll be an RAF replacement for the ill-fated Nimrod MR2s and MRA4s, and most of it will be British, unlike the RW P-8 Poseidons. :(

I've had two ideas, both inspired by a tin of spray paint I found. One is a whiff-in-a-box and the other just a paint job, so construction-wise, they're not difficult. I might do both. The envelope pushing element is that one is a resin kit, and I've never built a full resin kit before.

Freightdog 1/72nd MUSTARD Glider, from the British space programme you probably don't remember....

S&M 1/72nd FV432 astronaut escape vehicle, from the same space programme. Basically the UK equivalent to NASA's real life M113s, one of which sat at the bottom of the zip-line escape system from the rockets/shuttles for the astronauts to drive to safety in, presumably through something of a blaze...
(Yes, the astronauts all got taught to drive it, and yes, they all have ear-to-ear grins on their faces.)

Both painted yellow, of course. ;)

I'll start both so that if one hits problems (likely me messing up the resin MUSTARD glider), the other will finish.

I've had a couple of ideas and have settled on one. The AZ 1/72 Me 109 H-1. Their 109's build well, it's already a "Wiff in the box"  and a nice simple colour scheme. Couple of other things to do that week, but .............. touching wood

The backstory on the back of the box for this particular option mentions that the pilot was an "ace" with 5 kills. Unfortunately 4 of them were his own aircraft destroyed on landing  ;D

Not married and not working either...

Having said that, we've in the middle of selling my late aunt's house, so if I get a phone call to go and sort out some sort of problem, then everything else has to be instantly sidelined.

Just wondered if Saracen APC would fit that escape vehicle role ?

Sure, in fact NASA replaced their M113s with wheeled MRAPs eventually. I'd have thought tracks less vulnerable if driving through a rocket fuel fire, but then military grade tyres are pretty tough too, and it's not as if they'd be hanging about to sight-see...

Tempted to beat a Bilek (Airfix mould) Hampden into submission for this year's one-weeker.

But I don't exactly have a great track record when it comes to meeting the deadline!

Tangmere model show on Saturday, so might pick up something less demanding.  Or I might just sit back and watch the fun.

Well, I am a quite slow builder, so a one week build will be some challenge.  Have to see if I find a model for it that could be manageable.  But there should be 2-3 options in my secret modelkit stash.

Chris, IIRC you've build an Airfix (recent mould) Wildcat.  What was the fit like?  Need much PSR?
