Quote from: Mossie on July 02, 2025, 09:10:57 AMThank you! Yes, we looked at a Bentley at the same time, which was wonderful, but the Humber blew it away. Much larger, you can understand why royalty favoured them, lots of room for full regalia and worked perfectly for the bridal party. They'd have had to have been shoe-horned into the Bentley.

I still remember it pulling into our cul-de-sac, it had the turning circle of a super-tanker!

How many years is it by now?

Congratulations though.

21, Trevor.

It's amazing how these small details stick in your mind  ;D
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

It's the sort of detail that's eminently memorable.
I can remember providing the wedding cars for my sister's wedding. Dad and I both had white Fiat Mirafioris,  as did a colleague of dads.    The middle of Carlisle was being dug up at the time to re-lay some sort of cable or pipe, but we gained permission from the local police, the contractors and the council to drive up to the front door of the  Crown and Mitre hotel.  Three polished white cars with ribbons and streamers is quite a sight!  It was over 40 years ago but Alison and Alan still remember it well.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Two of my biker friends got married, and just before that another friend got herself a white Corvette Stingray. The Bride took one look at it and said, "that's my wedding car!" The service was in a church in a tiny village with nearly no parking next to the church, so the Corvette driver, who was also the bride's maid of honour, had to drop them off and then enter the church after everyone else was seated. She was a very good looking blonde (could literally have had a modelling career if she'd wanted it) and had got herself a chauffeur's outfit that consisted of a peaked cap, a tiny jacket ("bolero jacket"?) spray-on black leather jeans and knee-high boots with four-inch heels. The vicar had already started when she click-clicked her way down the aisle to stand beside the bride, and he totally lost his ability to speak English, stumbling over his words and having to start again.  :wacko:

At the end of the service he said, "I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss the bride, and you " turning to the Corvette driver, "are a very naughty girl!" Apparently she'd been batting her eyelashes at him for the whole service... :wacko:  :wacko:  :wacko:  :thumbsup:

Makes a great story but;

She'd probably had lash extensions put on & they were irritating her, so she kept blinking in short rapid bursts.

No, not personal experience, but I'm surrounded by women - sisters, wife, daughters (Thank the Gods for grandSONS:rolleyes:  ) - & they all have stories about lash extensions causing similar reactions.

Thanks guys! Yeah, its little details. I'll always remember the registration letters of the car, HRP. The guy who owned it had something like twenty Humbers and referred to them by the registration, making names of some of them. His oldest car was a 30s Pullman (like Airfix's Monty's Humber, only a hard top) registered JUL, so Julie. I wanted that one but was vetoed!
