Quote from: Rick Lowe on June 24, 2025, 10:44:32 PMAs long as I remember to use them on the appropriate sized figures... isn't it funny* how many differently-sized interpretations of '1/35 heads' there can be...

(* I say 'Funny', when I really mean 'Annoying and Frustrating', of course...)

Wargames figure's manfacturers idea of 15mm/20mm/25mm could be a tad frustrating as well

Yeah - Scale Creep is like that.  :banghead:

Even if the height's right, the proportions are often cartoonish, with oversized heads, feet and hands and "balloon animal" guns. Put a Wargames figure next to a Modelling figure and the latter look positively anorexic.

I haven't bought Wargames figures for over 30 years, and mine were all either ancients or horse and musket eras, the proportions were fine, it was the difference in height which was the issue. You couldn't mix different manufacturers in the same unit and they even looked wrong with different manufacturers on the same table. The only "good" thing was that their were very few manufacturers.

True, when talking about historical wargames figures. I'm mostly referring to fantasy/sci-fi ones, although I have seen recent production "WWII" or "Cold War" figures that exhibit the cartoonish proportions. It looks like the fantasy trend has worked it's way back into the historical wargaming world and become the "new normal" to an extent.

Received this morning from eBay

1 x 1/72 R.V.Aircraft 72036 MiG-21 LanceR-A. The kit is a bit basic so I may put the resin upgrade parts that make it a Rumanian LanceR-A onto another kit.

Big Planes Kits 1/72 Bayraktar TB2
These are the Turkish drones that Ukraine are using very well against the Russian invaders. You get two drones in the box. The main sprues are injection moulded and look a little simple but surface detail is there. With it are a pair of 3 blade props in a 3D printed cage and some etch brass.
Decal sheet has markings for Ukraine, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Poland.

Been a while since I lasted posted due to various things, but arrived this month....

1/72 Eduard MiG-21 bis twin pack
1/72 AML Siebel Si-202
2 x 1/72 Eduard S-199 (Early and Erla canopy)
1/72 Eduard Gustav part one twin pack

The latter two were on offer at Eduard so picked them up for a good price. Now, how would one look with a contra prop...?

Referring back to the explosive painting a few pages back, that just reminds me of the episode of Mr Bean where he used a Roman Candle to similar effect.

Just ordered from Hannant's - because I'm sick to death of waiting for them to come to somewhere near me;

1 x Airfix 1/35 Ferret Scout Car Mk.2 (AX1379)
1 x Airfix 1/35 Ferret Scout Car Mk.1 (AX1386)
1 x CMK 1/35 Ferret Scout Car Mk.2 Wheels (CMK3153)

The whole lot, including the two CMK wheel sets, cost £35 less from Hannant's than just the Ferrets would have from Airfix (inclusive of postage on both). :o

Still waiting for my 2 x pre-ordered Stollies to ship from Airfix, too. :banghead:

I am sometimes tempted.  But the postage...
I am hoping to get a Stolly locally.
Eventually.

Today I received 1/35 Scale Workable Track Links Type 62 for M4 VVSS by Rye Field Model.  I have been advised that these should fit the M4 High Speed Tractor I recently acquired.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Here in the UK the 2 Ferrets would cost £50 the pair from the Big H, so I assume Airfix don't do a tax free price ?

The Stollies are marked up as "Future releases" on the Airfix and Big H sites.
