The fuselage of the C-133 is primed now, and it's got a few steps where the tail joins on, but otherwise it's not too bad. The almost endless PSRing of the starboard engine nacelles continues, I just can't seem to get rid of the various craters all over them, and I've yet to even start on the port wing!

After a bit of discussion here at home I've decided to name these RAF C-133s as Douglas Durhams, and each one may be named after a town in Co. Durham as a result. My thinking is that the RAF called many of its heavy aircraft purchased from the USA during WWII and later after towns/cities that existed in both countries, viz in the RW the Baltimore, Maryland, Washington etc. In my Whiffworld I've already used 'Northampton' for the Northrop RB-35 in 2014 and I've actually been to BOTH Durhams myself.  ;D

I'm going to name my Durham after a town in Co. Durham in the UK, 'Shildon', as I know that place VERY well indeed.

And my backstory has all the Durham fleet named after Co. Durham towns too, with an appropriate town coat of arms on the nose, alongside Abingdon's coat of arms as well, as 47 Sqdn. always carried that badge.

All very traditional of course, but so am I.  ;D

Gondor

If one of these aircraft was depicted in 1964 or later, you could have a Pink Panther on the side as well.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

I know, or knew anyway, Shildon very well.

I've been grafting on adding the Tyne engines to the starboard wing of the Durham. I've NO idea how I did it on the port side, and now it's primered I can't actually see how I did it any more, duh!  :banghead:

But I've muddled through it and they'll look nearly the same in the end I'm sure, LOADS of PSR to come though.

Checking the rear cargo doors of the Durham shows that there's no way they'd work in the RW. The B model doors are totally the wrong shape to close on each other, but as they'll be open on this model, with the Thor (or Blue Steel....) missile half in and half out, no-one will take any notice.

I hope.............

The Thor itself is about done, bar the decals. And I have a book on it arriving today so I should be able to get it pretty well sorted.

The port wing is heavily P'd, in that I have only layered it up with Presto so far, and it need a LOT of it too. I see much filing and sanding in my future...........

Put your favourite soundtrack on the media of choice and have at it.
It helps with the mindless repetition...

The Stones' 'Gimme Shelter' works well, as I can sand in rhythm with the track.  ;D
