How would you glue the mylar in, without affecting the mirroring or crazing the clear plastic?

PR19_Kit

Current state with the fuselage joined up, complete with modified tail to be a 'C' version, and mucho putty applied.

I'm going a bit  :banghead:  I read that as "macho putty"

Well, they do sound very similar. ;)

The Presto stuff Dizzy and I use is pretty powerful, it's strong as well, and takes some sanding, but you do get a good finish with it.

It's self adhesive.  I suspect it's what they use on 1:1 car windows sold in very small batches.  It may be thinner.  Not sure.
I am sure though that I have never managed to apply it to a 1/25 car window without bubbles.

Sorry for the tardiness of the reply.  Work reared its ugly head.

Nice, I am really looking foward to see the model with paint and markings.

It does that... *sigh*  :-\

While pausing working on my Super Monsoon for the Op Downfall GB, I got back onto my RAF C-133C Cargomaster, and I've found out why I stopped work on it two years ago......  :-\

I mentioned in post #28 that the gear legs have to go on before the bulged gear fairings are added because the legs are larger than the holes in the fairings, so that's what I did. However, the bits having dried off now, I tried the fairings back over the legs and they fit of a fashion. They'll need a bit of filing and quite bit more PSR around the joints I expect, but they'll fit OK, but..............

Then I can't glue the wheels on as there isn't enough space between the ends of the axles and the holes in the fairing! So you'll be saying 'Paint the wheels and glue them on first!' which looks like a good idea until you find that the fairings then won't fit over the whole legs + wheels assembly!  :banghead:  :banghead:

Didn't anyone at Roden ever test build one of these?

I think I'll cut the fairings in half and glue then on front and back, or cut out the lower portion of the fairing and add it on after the wheels are glued in place.

Going back to the wings, I PSR'd the engines quite substantially, and now I've sanded them off a bit, and they're not looking too bad. A coat of primer will show how much more PSR I'll need of course, and that's the next step. I've still got to start work on the other wing of course, and that's quite a hefty job, fairing the Tyne nacelles into the T-34 cowlings.

A Cargomaster looks like enough work without new engines! Carry on!

I had to enlarge the gear bay opening with a sharp blade, and even after that it was not a great fit.

I'm glad it's not just me then Dave. I've chopped out the inner parts of the underside of the fairings, and marked them so I can be sure that they go back in the correct places. It looks like I'll have to put the outboard wheels on first, but the inboard wheels can be fitted after the fairings.

It'll be a bit of a pig having to mask up the gear bays so I can PSR the fairing joint, but it has to be done.

Yikes, it looks like a better engineering choice would have been undercarriage
bays that glue into the fairings and then fit into a simple cutout on the fuselage.
